2025: General Discussion

Oy, Barry, you 'eard of flippin' ponchos mate?
Jeez, get with the century pal...
It's summer.
Skin is waterproof.
Queues are shorter, wheels are faster in the rain.
Just watch for thunder...
Let's not go there, again.

I wonder what's going through the heads of people sometimes. I'm at Towers today and 60% of people seem to be wearing t-shirts, hoodies, shorts etc without any kind of waterproof clothing. It's forecast to rain heavily at times up until lunchtime. Have they never heard of weather forecasts? What do they think will happen when they're stuck in a queue for an hour in torrential rain? They should be banned from voting.
This is me, I can't stand being too hot/sweaty. I do bring a coat and occasionally a pair of overtrousers in the car, but those are reserved for real extreme weather

You’d expect people would start monitoring the weather from 60 miles away to place the wellbeing and comfort of themselves at the core of everything they do. That way they can proactively respond to adverse conditions, not just react, to support their comfort.

At least the park close the rides hours in advance because their approach is grounded in care and comfort. That way there’s adequate time for those crazy kids who haven’t brought ponchos to seek safe shelter as needed.

Was like that last weekend with the forecast of torrential rain and thunderstorms. We saw some very soggy people walking around! Maybe coats aren’t cool anymore!

Out of curiosity, is the Galactica gate open for exit from the park at the end of the day?

I have to meet my parents in the car park by 6:30, and I’m just pondering whether I can end the day with a ride on Nemesis and nip out of that gate…

Yes you can exit out that way.

Although must admit find it kinda awkard as I really like the Monorail and prefer to get on that.

It is indeed, I've used it myself 😊

Just bear in mind that the FV shop closes at ride close, unlike the main one on Towers Street.

A little early i know yet people's past experience with "fireworks Saturday " , would you say crowds get significant after lunch and the morning would be manageable?

I’ve been to fireworks a couple of times in recent years on a Saturday and I would say you’re pretty bang on. If you want to prioritise ride count I would certainly recommend arriving at 9am to ensure you’re in a ride queue no later than 0945. As myself and others have said many times, it’s best if you start from the back of the park (Dark Forest or X Sector) and make sure you’re in one of these areas no later than 0945. That way, you can hopefully get 3-4 rides in depending on availability by 11 - 1130.

From lunchtime onwards I’ve only really managed 3-4 rides at best on a fireworks Saturday, without fastrack.

Thank you. We have never done fireworks before and we are very fortunate to be going the Friday and the Saturday so just trying to work out the plan more so for the Saturday as I expect the fri won't be too bad overall

We had thought that yes yet obviously with some rides closed for a while during the display we are thinking it over again , mind you it will be darker earlier
The Friday fireworks are never as busy as Saturday. Don’t worry about the Saturday being darker, the sun will only be setting a minute or two earlier and it’ll be dark a good hour or so before the display starts. If you’re there on Friday as well I’d prioritise ride count on this day, then take a more gentle approach on Saturday and just soak up the awesome atmosphere that is Towers on fireworks weekend.

Don’t worry too much about being on the lawns hours in advance either - we’ve always got there at around 6ish and have never had an issue with getting a prime spot, which is towards the back of the lawns in the centre.

I was considering going to towers this year having not been in over 5 years but honestly there is nothing making me badly want to go there, its such a shame to see the park slowly declining, it badly needs a new major coaster

Just go there its not a bad park. I suggest going to the park yourself and formulate your own opinion on the place.

I disagree with people that say it's in decline Alton gets far more criticism than any other park and way over blown by YouTubers.
