Thorpe Park: General Discussion

I'm so desperate for Thorpe to get rid of RR 😂 it's so dilapidated at this point and taking up a decent sized area (as is Ghost Train) that could be used for something exciting. Although during their sparkle & transparency phase they said there were 'no plans' to remove it, it's surely on the radar by now? Get a woodie in there

I honestly think closing at the start of September to do absolutely nothing is completely ridiculous to be honest

What is honestly the issue with Rumba Rapids that it can't reliably run at the start and end of the season (other than costs)

I'm hoping that this is certainly the season that Rumba Rapids closes permanently or at the least a planning consultation about it.

Does it?
It has a considerable number of flats and wet rides still.
I'd agree that it isn't aiming to become a coaster only park.

I think Log Flumes have had their day and it's clear that Thorpe wants to gradually transition into a coaster only park.
I'm sure with the likes of Chiapas in Phantasialand that Log Flume style rides still are alive and kicking.
Would there be enough room on the site to build a log flume in its place? The UK is dearly lacking log flumes, and Loggers Leap seemingly had a fairly good reputation among visitors.
I think that the Rumba Rapids site is a sizeable space and could include a large scale ride or two on the site.

Include Treasure Island and the area behind Swarm which would provide ample space for a large scale ride such as a rollercoaster, water ride, dark ride or a combination of these.

Potentially including a few flat rides too.

If Stealth is also included, the potential is endless 🤔

I think they have in the UK unless Universal do something but there wasn't anything on the plans and if they did a water ride it would likely be indoors.

Chessington's will be the next to go in the Minecraft expansion unless it gets a re-theme but considering how old it is that doesn't seem likely.

I did mean the UK specifically.

Didn't know Tiger Rock was on the chopping block?

Would love a Water Coaster at Thorpe something like Skatteon or Mission Bermuda would be great.

With theming like Animal Treasure Island could be a good addition utilising the Thorpe Rangers could relocate Mr Monkey's Banana Ride to the area.

I think it's a shame alot of you want to get rid of a family ride. These are the rides where mums (and dads) can join the more adventurous of the family on something that is just fun.

If your a family with younger and older members then having some large all inclusive attractions is a must.

I remember congo as a kid being the ultimate thrill ride where the whole family would partake in a ride. Now if your a family I can't think of much my family would go on outside of the rapids and all get enjoyment.

Remember it's not the massive thrill families get out the rapids and log flume kind of rides
.. it's more 'who's going to get wet'.

I do wonder if Thorpe regretted getting rid of rides like the Thorpe Rangers and Wicked Witches Haunt

Thorpe Park didn’t really make the decision to get rid of Wicked Witches Haunt, unfortunately. The fire made that decision for them!

One does have to wonder how things might have panned out had that fire not happened, though. Given that Tussauds owned Chessington, I think the thrill path would always have been followed, but had the fire not happened, we wouldn’t have had Nemesis Inferno and Detonator for a start.

They could of done what Europa did with their pirates and rebuild Wicked Witches Haunt bigger and better than it was before.

Thorpe really was the family park and Chessington was the thrill park
