Paultons Park: General Discussion

Wild Swing on site too. For a May opening they certainly seem to be getting everything ready very early. Perhaps because they are so focussed on their landscaping, gardening and theming they want to get everything built early so they have the time to work on that.

To an extent but also the manufacturer was ready to ship and if Paultons didn’t take delivery they would have been charged storage. You often find rides/ track arriving before it’s needed for installation.

Obviously the park give the manufacturer an idea of when they want it as well.

Seen the latest update and from what I’ve seen of the Vikings constructions sites they are absolutely wild with the lack of H&S measures.

Very very surprising

At a guess it looks like some at height working without proper harnessing, but I can't tell how high they are and dont know what the actual rules are.

Paultons Park has sent an email to the Super Fans group confirming "its brand-new world, Valgard, will open on Saturday 16th May 2026.".

The email goes on to invite those in receipt to "Be among the first warriors to brave Drakon, Paultons Park's most thrilling coaster yet". Presumably it also opens on that date.

It's gonna be an awesome addition Cobra finally getting theming it deserves and that area will be more immersive

Can’t really understand even if it’s just a temporary fit that they re-themed the edge to fit the area as it really just needs the ride repainted, the op cabin themed to suit and a new name. I did see in vlogs that in front of the ride the fencing had Viking details added.

For those of us not quite as knowledgeable on H&S around construction sites, would you please explain what they're not doing?

PPE in all forms missing:
Hard hat, eye protection, hand protection, safety boots, ear defenders (likely not needed but still)
Working at height unsecured/untethered
Unsecured ladders
Lack of banksman
Lack of edge protection (near holes/pits etc)

I could go on…

Lack of gloves during works
Lack of leg coverings whilst working around wet concrete
Lack of fall protection on the back of vehicles
Lifting operations with one of the key people in a dangerous area
Lack of toe boards on scaffolding

Yeah they're really not caring. Still, sounds like a normal site, have seen worse.

Though HSE would probably mostly go down on the contractor rather than the park. Still has some responsibility.

That being said just looked like a regular worksite with all the missing bits.

Good to know an opening date so can plan which week to head south (midweek obviously).
