Pet Hates

....I totally haven't been on Brick Link scrounging up parts to make Q and a couple of Borg drones.

I'm certainly not giving serious thought to building an accurate minifig scale bridge, from plans, with the same removable wall sections as the real set, or anything crazy like that.

... And even if I did, I'd certainly stop there, not add the ready room, turbo lift, head, conference room, the rest of deck one...... 👀

But which version would I build anyway?

Season 7 looks the best, to my untrained eye.

People who wear sunglasses with cameras in them to create and film "encounters" with authority then claim "POLICE STATE! ORWELLIAN!".

Rage-bate idiots. Look in the mirror.
Because walking around with cameras attached to your face, filming everything and uploading it to Meta's servers is anything but Orwellian, of course.

Getting sick of all this AI slop now.

Flicking through Instagram and instead of funny videos, you find synthesised **** instead. Even worse is now when I find a funny video I question if it's even real rather than enjoy it.

A couple of days ago, I decided to change the desktop wallpaper on my iPad, from a drawing of obscure webcomic characters pretending to be the TOS crew on the bridge of 1701...... to an LCARS style interface.

(If you are already lost just move on to the next post now)

So I took it a bit further. Now my lock screen and Safari backgrounds are also (different) LACARS interfaces.
I love it. Why did I not do this 15 years ago with my first iPad‽ I finally feel like I'm in the future.
....
Just one problem. Now I'm constantly confused as to what I am looking at. It's all too samey! 🤣

The phrase 'living rent free in your head'.
The even more annoying thing is that you could use this phrase to describe what I feel about said phrase.
Social media has a weird habit of making very specific phrases extremely overused. I’ve always picked up on;
“..And I’m all here for it…”
and
“…The titular character..”
And it isn’t everyone, it is just certain people who say them. All the time.

Tell me about it.

AI has become so pervasive that even the comments are clearly people going "I'll get ChatGPT to make me look smart"

Short, clipped sentences, line breaks rhetorical questions and the "It's not about X, it's about Y" ****. Someone put an end to it please for all our sanity. Oh and don't get me started on LinkedIn "Thought Leaders" who outsource both their thoughts and leadership to AI "What my toddler eating a pizza taught me about the importance KPIs" Come off it lads!

I was reminded of another one today whilst driving to the shop. VANS being parked everywhere along residential streets! It's getting worse and making it dangerous to pull out at junctions and to drive around corners etc.

This is obviously due to companies being total cheapskates and not wanting to provide parking for their fleets of vehicles, and the emergence of online shopping. I'm sorry, but residential streets should not be filled up with commercial vehicles. If you've got a driveway, stick it on your own bladdy drive!!

I propose a new law that prohibits vans parking along the side of any street or road unless making a delivery or actively carrying out work at an adjacent property! I would be really kind about it though and announce that it would be brought in in 3 years time in the future. This would give companies and individuals the time to sort their shiz out. I'm sorry, but if you live on a congested road of terraced houses or whatever you shouldn't be taking a job that requires you to park a Sprinter van outside your house making it a nightmare for everyone in your locality to park.

Let's nip this in the bud before it gets even worse.

A VAN *directly outside* the driveway. Unbelievable. You're right. This has to stop.

Parking is horrific no matter where you go.

I visit a town in South Yorkshire daily and it's just out of control. Since I'm in a HGV, struggle to park anywhere. There is a loading space bang out side a post office. So clearly, it's never empty, mostly used by people needing to use the Post Office. The arguments I have had. One bloke blocked me in, also blocked the road and still claimed to be the victim (despite the bus driver pointing out, there are parking spaces 10 yards up the road.)

One woman threatened her dead husband would come and give me a thump on the nose, all because I asked her just to move forward.

Then, ladies and gentlemen. We have the very big issue. People complaining they have been issued a parking ticket on Facebook. Aww poor you, did you not read tye sign that says "parking for use of the doctors surgery only."

TIme you started getting points for bad parking.

I blame modern architecture.

I live in an old t'pit village. On the site of the t'pit, to celebrate calenders being 2000. They constructed at new, modern village. Lovely, it would be a modern development for a modern age. Someone had been to a place abroad and thought. Hmmmmm, the houses in this ski resort are amazing. Let's build them in Britain. Fine.

I grew up in a house constructed circa 1960. It had a drive capable of housing 4 cars, plus a fifth in the garage. If developers back then, could see the rise of the car. How on earth did the guy drawing a ski village in west Yorkshire could not (more housing, more money is answer.) after around 5pm you can't get through that village. 3/4 bedroom houses have parking for a single car. There are no roads, supposed to be area where children can play. Nope, literally bumped to bumper in there. Emergency can't get In and out.

Then we have an issue of the Victorian t'pit village. It's terrace after terrace. With no one's child being able to afford to rent and buy. Families of 3+ car ownership.

Not to mention what @rob666 has declared. Old pubs turned into new shops. No parking, so it's a free for all.

No wonder this country feels cramped to some

Yeah. They could do with bringing in a law that for new builds there is adequate off-road parking and wider streets. The house building companies wouldn't be happy obviously, and it wouldn't help Labour get to their target of building however many houses it is during their parliament. But you know what? We managed to build these kinds of estates 50/60 years ago so they could do it now if the will was there.
