Only let about 10 people on and the rest, of which there were many had to wait 30 minutes for the next bus, by which time many had sauntered off for alternative transport, IE local bus, Taxi. Yes, we had a similar issue with getting a bus there as well. Missed the first bus (our fault), but second bus was significantly delayed and we arrived an hour or so later than planned.
 
Sorry to double post. At Phantasialand today, Taron, Raik and FLY have been done all day.

BBC Weather has been showing around -2 for most of the day in Brühl, which is normally a fine temperature for Phantasialand’s coasters to be running. I know that Europa Park experienced similar, or lower, temperatures in the week too with all the major coasters running, so I’m guessing there may be other factors at play with FLY and Raik. I don’t know though, all speculation.

Very unlikely to be temperature related, they've both operated consistently at lower temperatures in the past few weeks. And Black Mamba looked like it was running all day which presumably would be the outdoor coaster to have the most difficulty.

BBC weather are notoriously inaccurate too.

Whilst I don’t want to get too much into a conversation about the reliability of BBC Weather (I’ve always found BBC to be by far the most reliable source of weather information, but that’s just my experience), I think it’s surprising that Taron and Raik’s downtime had nothing to do with the weather. Reports from thoosies who were in the park today is that both valleyed, and were subsequently down all day, which is somewhat rare, even more rare for both to valley on the same day.

As for FLY, that may also be completely unrelated to the weather, but it looks like the track was covered in snow, so not even sure if a test ride was attempted.

Crazy Bats was also down all day. So weather related or not, today was not a good day to be at Phantasialand. My heart goes out to anyone who visited today, especially if you travelled far to be there.
 
Heavy snow and steady wind in the area, so shifting small snow banks were probably slowing the trains...
They need a snowplough!
Wind and snow combined is dodgy for all transport...minor drifts can grip and stop a vehicle very quickly.

And, as an outdoor worker, checking forecasts every few hours every day, then going out working in it...
The BBC forecasts over the last few years have been very poor indeed...over pessimistic about rain...ever since they dropped the Met Office, who they are going to return to... after a great number of complaints about poor forecasts.

I use an average of three.

The rain radar is the best for planning outdoor stuff...you can see the weather actually coming in.

I didn’t say weather related, I said temperature related. If it was heavy snow and winds then that certainly could be the cause but as I pointed out, all those rides operate reliably at lower temperatures. It’s a big selling point of the park in winter.

Low temperatures do not automatically equal heavy snow. Where I live in the UK despite it dropping to -5C of late we’ve had glorious sunshine and barely a drop of snow!
