Six Flags Quiddiya

The thing with Falcon’s is that its prime sensation is seemingly sense of speed, which I don’t think ever comes across very well on POVs.

Unlike something like an RMC, where you can see the airtime and imagine it to a degree, I think the sensation of going at well over 100mph for a sustained period of time is hard to imagine without experiencing it first-hand. The only overly comparable ride in this sense is Formula Rossa, and even that is a lot shorter.

My car can in theory do 155mph, I’ve driven at a sustained 100 and that felt quite fast enough to me with being fully enclosed. I can’t imagine what 155 with an exposed head/body is like which is why I have to go and see what this thing is all about. It’s morbid curiosity as much as anything else

I think it's more than that too. There's the downward launch, from an already great height and speed, the incredible location on a literal cliff, the slow drop off said cliff, the launch up the cliff, the unprecedented heights reached... a POV can't really convey these experiences.

Literally everyone is coming off it flabbergasted. Whether or not it's everyones favourite, there can be no doubt it is one of the most incredible rollercoasters ever built. The only people doubting it so far are those who aren't riding it.

Having ridden it myself I can tell you first hand that it's USP's are it's absolutely ridiculous sense of speed and height and of course using physically massive geological structures which give you a unique sense of exposure and scale that isn't found on anything else.

You could have a relatively tame coaster but build it on the edge of a 600ft cliff face and it changes the experience entirely....now imagine that but this time you're dropping off the cliff.

I'm still not sure if I'd put it ahead of Steel Vengeance for me, something about that ride just feels incredibly unhinged and slightly violent which I love but it's a very very close second place and way more of a unique coaster experience.
 
This isn't technically Six Flags related but i thought people might find it interesting.

The proposed Dragon Ball Z theme park for the area announced last year will actually be part of a larger Anime theme park and it looks to be gigantic!

The "resort core" area to the right of it is Six Flags, AquaArabia and the F1 course so the new park will be larger than all of them combined.

“Walt Disney Company transformed the most famous cartoon films into a park named Disneyland and achieved dazzling success, and the Qiddiya Company plans to transform the most famous animes into parks in the city of Qiddiya, for the first time in the world under the name "Anime World," one of them being a Dragon Ball park.It is expected that Anime World will become one of the most famous destinations in the region, with several parks along with 14 hotels inspired by anime and a total area for the parks and residential complexes and facilities of about 12 km²”

The amount of residential space there, they really are building up Qiddiya to be a new city aren't they. If nothing else at least you can say they aren't doing half measures.

Hopefully it doesn't end up all being pie in the sky like that stupid Neom line-building arcology.

Unverified but saw a social media comment complaining that Falcon didn’t operate yesterday.

Unprecedented for an entire park to close less than 2 weeks after opening.

It’s certainly put a dampener on our plans to visit.
 
We don’t actually know why it closed. It could be for an entirely innocent reason.

It’s if it’s shut for longer when we should get concerned.

Shutting an entire park with less than 24 hours notice is rather drastic though, it’s not unreasonable to be concerned.

Imagine anywhere else doing that.

According to a comment on their FB post, it was a planned closure as that date was unavailable when the poster went to book a while back.

It will be interesting to see what if anything changes when they open again.

It dos make me leery of spending all that money if there’s a risk of the star attraction closing.

No i asked the same and there doesn't appear to be (as of yet). Seems queue times aren't on the app, only on park signs.

It's a risk you carry visiting any park unfortunately. Many suffered it for Hyperia. I got spited going all the way to Japan for Donkey Kong but at least there was a park of great attractions to console me. Going there and the entire park is closed with no warning would be Grand Ultimate Spite Master: Final Boss.

I can live with Thorpe park as it’s only a couple hours drive. It would be galling going halfway round the world for the though.. it’s actually given me a reality check. Same price I could “pop” over to Florida and i am guaranteed a good time

It would be disappointing but based on the other attractions I think you’d have an equally good time as at any Floridian park.

I’m going to give it at least another month I think and see how things develop.
