In The Night Garden Boat Ride

Hi all

First time post ; towers season ticket holder and local to the park, nice to meet you all

Just wanted to garner opinion on the state of the Iggle Piggle boat ride. Probably very low down on some of the thrill seekers lists of rides but as a parent to small kids this is a ride I’ve ridden for 10 years

I am appalled at the state of it!

The audio is out of sync with the ride
The animatronics are all broken
There’s litter strewn across the ride landscape

Very poor show from the Towers, sorry my first post is a moan but wondered if anyone else had noticed!

I like to play the fun "will that thing work this time?" game whilst riding it.

Its usually the Ninky-Nonk and Plinky-Plonk that get crossed off that list.
Lol

Well today: ninky nonk was broken ,
pinky ponk worked
Makka pakkas hands hardly clap any more
uppsy daisy has had a new skirt and vaguely works but the animatronics are rusty
Iggle piggle has had a new red blanket and works
The worst was the audio being out of sync, I missed the tittifers altogether due to this.

Very sad

It does need work specifically painted up the animtronics. Main ride is good only normal boat ride left.

Hopefully during off season can receive some work

At least iggle piggles blanket is back a few weeks ago my daughter got really upset because it was not there 🙈🙈 might seem trivial to some but she is autistic and non verbal and has an obsession with cbeebies.

That doesn't sound trivial at all, and perfectly encapsulates why the long-term terminal decline of this park is far more important than just Thoosies "moaning" or being "picky".

Every time I go I beg my daughter to go on In the Night Garden with me for old times sake. Because in my mind, it takes me back to the place where she was in my arms as a tiny little baby, mesmerised by it all. She was in a magical world, and I was wrapped around her when she was in it. But teenagers being teenagers, she just wants to drag me on Oblivion multiple times and through horror mazes instead.

This isn't just typical Merlin style rot and broken animatronics to people like your daughter. It's like telling her Father Christmas isn't real on Christmas Eve. It's branded to something she loves, and bears a clear resemblance, but at the same time her world is shattered when she spots that it really isn't. She likely knows it isn't real, but then she also knows the TV show isn't either. So it shouldn't matter.

The IP was successful, but I thought the Cbeebies rebranding of that area was a cheap and tacky Merlin vinyl and paint job with only the brands carrying it through. But having unfortunately had the displeasure of having that show on every single bloody night with all my kids for many years, I must say that when it was new and worked well it was very well done. It really had a magical Night Garden feel to it, and was one of the few attractions in there (Mr Blooms Nursery was another) that actually did a good job of complimenting the source material.

Of course, judging by how much of a dump the rest of the place is, I can't say I'm surprised. I haven't ridden it for many years now, and even back then the Ninky Nonk was broken, much of it didn't move, and everything was covered in at least of year's worth of green ****.

But this is still sad to hear nonetheless. I wouldn't hold your breath for any improvements. I doubt many at the park even notice things like this these days. Someone may go round with a hammer, screwdriver, and can of WD40 at some point, but one hand will give as the other one takes. It'll pretty much be mandatory safety maintenance and checks before pushing the Start button again when the park opens next season.

Probably thinking out loud but I'm imagining the boat ride system could get shortened or reimagined in the future

This one seems to take up space that could fit multiple rides and at the same time, it likely could've been an alternative site for the Bluey ride.

It could be one where they relocate the Vintage Car system that was Postman Pat?

There is plenty of space inside of the boat ride ring you could another ride or two

Absolutely agree on that, if they were to chop it totally - you could fit multiple rides on the site

Looks like it could fit 8/9 Go Jetters round rides there

Not remove the boat ride as it is the only non soaker boat ride left at Towers since Dungeons Boat Ride is out of action

I thought you said removing it would add another ride or two? Which is it, remove or keep?
I said there was space inside the ring of the boat ride so the boat ride can remain just put rides inside of the middle of the boat ride having bridges to access the middle of the green space

the space inside the ride is the In the Night Garden figures, animatronics and set pieces. Without them you would just have a boat going past other rides queues.

In an ideal world, shortening the trough is likely the best option

That could fit a shortened ITNG and Pat (or two/three attractions) which for a Cbeebies expansion would be logical before going onto Spinball's site (which would be a fantastic site for a Dark Ride).

An alternative transform in the night Garden ride system into an indoor boat ride Cbeebies Land has no dark rides and could use one for when the weather turns for the worse
