Ride Access Pass and Disabled Access - 2026 Discussion

So all 4 parks are now moving to the app.
Alton released first.
Thorpe shortly after.
Lego was next but it kept crashing and has now vanished.
And neurodiverse people no longer qualify
Interestingly states the following;
From 2nd February 2026, Merlin will be accepting the following Nimbus symbols for RAP eligibility:
• Difficulty Standing
• Level Access
• Urgent Toilet Needs
So moving forward, difficulty with crowds won't come under the RAP scheme.

Seems vague. We've been allowed to book slots so i presume they will be honoured.
Could be an amendment to future applications/renewals but there will be a massive backlash if so.
Probably best to wait for clarification. It seems like that's been on the site as the criteria since December though which adds to the confusion.

I would think that it wouldn't make any difference whatsoever until you come to renew your RAP or Nimbus pass. In the Merlin RAP app it only has your name, photo and colour of pass, pretty much. No actual details of why you qualify for the pass.
Anyway, first 3 weekends are totally booked out already at Alton.

Nope.Presumably it means "in addition to existing criteria...." rather than those are the only reasons they'll allow.

Our one has "Accessibility Needs" below the photo which state "queue" and "plus one".
"Queue" no longer exists so i guess we'll see if the app updates this but i don't see how it could. It expires in June anyway so we'll have to reapply and presumably it will be updated then. I can't imagine many people here have the new Nimbus (post December 2025) cards yet so confirm whether it states the new symbols...

You can put your card details in here and it will tell you what your new symbols are:

That's interesting. Mine literally just has a yellow band with 'yellow' written on it. Applied and got my new Access card in December and only installed the app in the past couple of weeks. Queue symbol only on actual Access card.Nimbus changed the symbols in December.

As sources and context are always helpful, it would appear that Nimbus have recently revised and made changes to their "Standing and Queuing" symbols:
knowledge.accesscard.online
I can't independently verify that Merlin have made exclusions to which symbols they accept for RAP, but the following can be found in the Terms and Conditions of their Accessibility microsite:
www.accessibility.merlinentertainments.biz
We are making some positive changes to the symbols used on the Access Card to improve clarity and ensure you get the right support.
As the Access Card scheme has grown, it has become clear that our original 'Standing and Queuing' symbol was doing a lot of heavy lifting. It was used to represent two very different types of access requirements:
To help venues provide more tailored and appropriate support, we have split this category into two distinct symbols.
The New Symbols
1. Difficulty Standing
Symbol: A seated figure. What it means: This symbol is allocated to applicants whose mobility impairment makes standing for prolonged periods difficult or impossible. The Adjustment: This indicates to a venue that you may require a seat if a queue is long, or permission to bypass a physical queue to avoid standing.
2. Difficulty with Crowds
Symbol: A group of figures. What it means: This symbol is allocated to applicants who have difficulty being in crowded situations or queues, often due to neurodivergence, anxiety, or other non-physical conditions. The Adjustment: This indicates that standing isn't necessarily the issue, but the environment of the queue is. You may require a quieter entrance, a virtual queue, or a way to avoid the congestion of a standard line.
Changes to Standing and Queuing Symbols
I can't independently verify that Merlin have made exclusions to which symbols they accept for RAP, but the following can be found in the Terms and Conditions of their Accessibility microsite:
Merlin partners with Nimbus Disability (“Nimbus”), one of the UK’s leading providers of disability-related advice and support to professional organisations, to assess applicants’ needs and determine eligibility for a RAP. Nimbus will provide a focused assessment of an individual person and the barriers they may face which affect their ability to queue. Applicants will be asked to provide any documentation and details to support their application.
Once this process has been completed, applicants will then be issued with a level access, toilet, or difficulty with standing symbol on their Nimbus Access Card which will verify eligibility for a Merlin RAP.
Guests already in possession of a valid Nimbus Access Card at the time of registering in the Merlin RAP App with the Standing, Level Access or Toilet symbol will only be required to register their Nimbus Access Card details with the Merlin Ride Access Pass App to create their RAP ID.

Merlin consider it rap abuse,All parks are now live.
Interestingly you can't book slots at multiple parks on the same day which is good.

If they wanted to be spiteful nothing stopping them retroactively applying it to existing bookings.Well we're at least RAP booked for first trips of the year.
But the new information being released on the same day is very bad form.
