Pleasurewood Hills

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this lineup.

A big wheel is kinda whatever. Seems to be shorter than the one at Yarmouth.

I've never rode a star flyer so that'll be cool to experience for the first time, although looking at a couple videos it does appear to just be a taller waveswinger? Can someone say how much difference there actually is with the ride experience between these two?

I don't quite know why we need a second mouse coaster at the park. Why couldn't they just upgrade the marble madness cars so that they'd spin, wouldn't this have been cheaper even? I don't know much about coasters though so I'm guessing they need dedicated tracks that send signals to the cars for this to work? Again, not sure how much difference the experience will actually be between this and MM.

An apple coaster... don't we already have this exact same model like 15 mins away at GYPB? I would find it a bit funny if it even comes complete with the big apple structure. Hopefully they actually theme it to fit within the park. Actually, I am hoping all the new additions fit with the parks overall theme aesthetically.

I'll be looking forward to going to the park later on in the year. Despite my initial thoughts, honestly I'm very glad that we're getting new rides at all, and I'm really hoping the park can recover and last for many more years.

Also, while I'm here, can I just say, my biggest disappointment with the park in recent years was the removal of that big food place they had in the northeast corner of the park. Pretty much the only food place on the park that I actually liked eating at. I hope they're doing something about the food.
The recent McDonald's which opened literally by their entrance has done them no favours. People go out then into the park to use McDonald's rather than the onsite offerings

Yep. The Great Yarmouth one is 50m (164ft) compared to the proposed PWH one, which would be 36m (118ft).

Well, apart from the height, the main difference is that the Star Flyer doesn't tilt on its axis. Not sure if there's much more to set them apart than that, but it's certainly a more up-to-date ride.

That would have probably been very difficult, to be honest, as I'm not aware of any Maurer mice that have been converted to spin (their dedicated spinning coasters are the ones like Spinball Whizzer, Dragon's Fury etc).

Personally, what I think is great about this is that the park is going to feel much more full of rides, and quite modern ones too. I'm normally a "less is more" sort of person, but Pleasurewood has been neglected for so long, I don't think it's been given a fair chance. This should prove once and for all whether there really is a business model that will work for the park.

I just wonder if these 4 additions IF approved will be "new" for a couple of seasons so to speak rather than anything new for 2027.

These new additions ( according to the plans ) could be removed after 5 years too

I would imagine it'll be a mixture of semi permanent and permanent rides going forward with the odd one season special guest.

Hoping it's "spinning coaster" rather than crash test which will be a awful addition
Has Spinning Coaster previously operated at Brent Cross funfair and Winter Wonderland?

On a purely selfish level, I hope that its Crash Test, purely because I attempted to ride it in winter 2018 when it was in Hong Kong but I got spited by the site being at capacity so I wasn’t able to get entry without standing and waiting for ages.

I dont know where it last operated to be honest. Does anyone else ?

According to Coaster Count Crash Test is currently operating in Hong Kong, was previously at Hull Fair, and The Trafford Centre in 2025.

I rode it at Southport Pleasure Land in 2019 and it was inoffensive, seemed to pop up all over the place after that. Turned up at an Xmas fair in Liverpool in 2021 for instance.

Spinning Coaster seemed to take up the mantle from Crash Test of being Ocean Beach's resident spinning coaster, probably to get the bad press of Crash Test killing someone to go away.

Also, I'm not sure if they can realistically do anything to combat this, but the amount of wasps you get around the park in summer is really annoying. There's gotta be something that can be done about this? More shelter from the sun would be a nice addition too (particularly over the top of ride queues if possible).

Anyway, really exciting news in general, I just hope this is only the start of something big for the park (I hope it's not a kind of deal that they'd just add these rides this year and then be done with it).
I've seen plenty of places spend decent money on far worse coasters than something like a spinning coaster like Hero for example, but the fact that they are installing a family friendly ride is not to be overlooked. Marble madness was awful when it was at Flamingo land so god knows what it rides like now.

The catapiller, is meh, but if they haven't got one, then fair enough. 3 coasters become five, it looks very much more marketable. I really want lightwater valley to be a success under Mellors, but the installation of one spinning coaster Vs another isn't likely to be differentiated by the vast number of riders, and likewise one mouse Vs another.

The wheel is again fair enough if they have one, and represents an option for older visitors, the real hidden gem is probably the star flyer.

They are somehow thrilling rather sedate, Ms will be willing to bet more people will be scared of getting on one than cannonball express or wipeout.

Did I read right that cannonball express won't open initially btw?

Cannonball is in a right mess. I bet its SBNO for a bit of this season, there is already a objection to the new planning application, i suspect more will follow yet im confident it will pass.

However with the crucial easter trading period just a few weeks away I can't see it all being approved and the rides installed ( yes the wheel is there ready ) in time for season launch

Definitely!

It would be six coasters, though, wouldn't it?

  • Egg-spress
  • Cannonball Express
  • Wipeout
  • Marble Madness
  • Apple coaster
  • Spinning Coaster

Admittedly, Cannonball might not run (sorry if I didn't understand what you meant).
