Paultons Park: General Discussion

If Critter Creek is rethemed, they really, really need to include the Teacups and Kontiki area in that retheme. This area looks awful compared to virtually every other part of Paultons.

In fact, thinking about it, perhaps the reason that these rides haven’t been themed could well be because they have plans in the pipeline for Critter Creek so are holding off adding any theming to those rides for the time being.

If Catter Pillar Coaster was kept I'd hope they would redo the station, as the current queue ramp is a claustrophobic nightmare.

What kind of music do we think The realm of Valgard will have? I'm thinking something like the Klugheim themed soundtrack. Something orchestraic hopefully by IMAscore as well

Personally, I hope that the music they use on the construction updates is the area soundtrack or something, as it's really good.

Having endured 3, yes 3 rides on Rage at Adventure Island today i remain baffled at this choice of coaster. The first was tolerable but it got progressively worse each time.

They were only running 1 train so it was somewhat interesting to note that back inner was the "best", back outer ranked second and front outer was miserable. I'm still fascinated to see if and how Paulton's model is somehow going to be an enjoyable version of this ride.

But... i did also notice that very small children (perhaps too small) were eagerly queuing to ride it in droves (as much as Southend does droves) so maybe i'll be surprised at how popular Drakon turns out to be. And evidently my son must be enjoying it to some degree to keep dragging me on though equally he might enjoy torturing me.

Also the park have just posted a rather nice preview of the next construction vlog with some cool drone shots of the Vild Swing:

Admittingly having just ridden Predator at IMG Worlds of Adventure a clone of Rage it does not track the best, however there are good Eurofighters out there Fluch Von Novgorod, Takabisha, Typhoon. And even Saw the Ride if you ride it properly.

But I suspect the reason they went with Gerstlaurer is because of Cobra being the same manufacturer and guessing thats why they chose it. They could of gone for an infinity but I guess clearance envelope is not big enough for that or comes down to cost.

Cost is a big reason they went with a Euro fighter. They are very cheap to install compared to other popular steel coasters.

People get a bit caught up with Paultons now being this all conquering park these days and for theming and operations they'd not be far off the truth tbf. However the ride hardware at the Merlin parks is still in another galaxy.

Are you feeling ok today, Big B? First you say nice things about a Merlin project, over on the Chessington thread, now you're questioning Paultons Park (praise be).

I promise any mods who are reading this that I have not in any way infiltrated @Bowser's account.

Think you've literally just identified why they chose this 😀

However I do agree Rage is rough! Guess we have to see how it rides. Assuming a new Eurofighter with a new OTSR system vs a 10+ year old seaside coaster rides the same may be an error of judgement

Well my only other point of reference is Saw though thats equally old and miserable.

However, more importantly thanks to @Hid today i learned that i haven’t been riding it properly so hopefully Paultons follow Thorpe’s lead and clearly convey to customers how to do so. I must have missed the clear signage telling passengers to don a padded suit and helmet before boarding.

Exactly, a Eurofighter is a tried and tested value for money looping coaster model where largely, it is suitable for those 1.2m and over.

I'd say this is the modern day equivalent of the Pinfari ZL42 or the Schwarzkopf Looping Star in the sense, that's to the point that in the future I don't think Drakon is the last Eurofighter to come to a UK park (looking at you Crealy 🤣)
