2026: General Discussion

Love the NDA as well.

No photos of watching the painting please until we say so.
I suppose its to leave the repaint as a surprise for when the park reopens, they had a NDA for the Bluey Coaster to which I guess they don't want spoilers.

Do you guys like spoilers for rides or go in blind not knowing anything

I mean this is the park that went on for ages about secrecy regarding Thirteen then let it all out on ITV a few days before opening.

It'll be because they want their own media channels to post it first before their specifically chosen MAP holders (who also will happen to have a decent online following of their own) post about how lucky they were to watch something be painted.

Also the *checks notes* joke has been in use for years.

I do kinda miss Towers mystery with projects, before my time but Oblivion had guards around the construction site preventing photos.

Used to be the case with closed season you would not know what they had done until opening day

I prefer not knowing anything but i appreciate that's increasingly difficult in this day and age plus the enthusiast in me finds it hard to resist looking.

I know what the Minecraft ride at Chessington will be but i won't watch any videos before going on it. Hopefully Horizon still materialises at AT too. And i will try my utmost for Universal UK.

One of my favourite theme park experiences was taking my wife and son on The Flying Dutchman at Efteling. Because of the path we approached it from they didn't see what the ride was and so thought it was just a dark boat ride.

Disneyland Paris was great for this too as most of the rides are indoors.

Do we think the might be repainting it back to its original colours, which is why there is a NDA so they can reveal it themselves?
Not sure the colours would fit the aesthetic of Towers Street with the yellow. If they do I hope they go with the original yellow rather than the Yellow it ended up with in Ug Land.

Would be cool if they could get one of its original trains off Big Loop and place it on the track redecorated with it og colours

That would be a nice sight.

On the topic of the NDA, it'll be pretty pointless anyway. One of the usual lot who are there vlogging every day/week will literally just walk through the gates on the days that the work is going on and just take some pics. Failing that someone will send a drone up.

They didn't.

They had publicity staff in pretty uniforms taking the mick, encouraging people to get their box brownies out.

I know.

But as a very tall bloke, I was very excited as you couldn't see the bottom of the hole from the fence!

Park is closed, so doubt anyone will be able to just walk through the gates. Maybe yes could go to the hotel and send a drone but would be spotted.

Overall though for those who would like to have the claim and knowledge for themselves that they painted a bit of old rollercoaster, this does seem a good thing.

It’s pretty sad lengths to go to though to see a bit of routine maintenance. The park is open in a couple of weeks!

Looks like Merlin believe that theme park enthusiasts are easily pleased. It will be the icing on the cake if some youtubers are selected and make a video about being so privileged to do some routine park maintainence.
