2026: General Discussion

Monorail, Skyride & RMT all marked as closed for essential maintenance (though that might have been the case just for the buyout days, I'm not sure)
I think if the app has been updated with that info, it is almost certain that they won't be opening next weekend then. Most of the closed ride were off the app last week, so they've been added back with that additional info, so it is more than likely it is a deliberate update.

Fair enough. That is geo locked for me.

If that’s the case it is more chipping away at the guest experience. Year after year they find ways to make things worse. Very sad.

Its already 2 less rides for my 1.15m son, whose already in that awkward age that isnt really met by AT in terms of rides. (Ie. Too big for beebies but too small for the bigger rides)

I would post a screenshot but unsure of the image policy these days
You can post images relevant to the discussion but have to host them elsewhere and link to them.

Would be really have ridden Battle Galleons in March? I’d expect it to re-open as the weather improves.

They could always have done it with the cannons switched off and done something like Sharkey's Galleon or whatever it's called

If only they had this 4 month period if time where they closed the park to do ride maintenance, it would really be a great time to do this stuff…

Ohh wait!

Seriously this is an absolute joke.
Not all maintenance can be done in that length of time, and if there are delays or setbacks with parts or maintenace it has a knock on effect.

And again we had a lot of poor weather start of the year. Skyride and loading the Runaway Mine Train train would not be fun in cold rainy weather

Look I know you have a desperate need to defend the indefensible but I have been visiting Alton Towers for over 30 years and every year they managed to get the park maintenance done in the closed season until very very recently. This has nothing to do with the weather as unlike cleaning and painting rain does not stop mechanical and electrical maintenance and most closed season work is in the workshops anyway.

There is no excuse.

Water rides you can kind of allow being last priority to be ready for opening, but even that never used to be the case but now seems to be normalised across many UK parks.

Anything else is just unforgivable really - and that doesn’t just go for Towers, we’ve already seen it at Blackpool, and there’ll be plenty of other examples across all the parks on the coming weeks

Poor performance is being normalised.
