Ride Access Pass and Disabled Access - 2026 Discussion

It is most bold of you to assume that outside theme parks, people aren't quietly suffering in everyday life because society and workplace/classroom/present environment stigma has deemed their, as you call, 'very minor conditions' to be a burden to everyone around them and they have to mask their 'very minor conditions' to keep up the exhausting pretence that they are as functional as you might be.

We've established plenty of times on this topic the people im referring to. Im not a monster mate. I think the RAP is a good thing thats just massively oversubscribed due to how soft weve become as a nation.

Its all about opinions I guess but ADHD and anxiety for example would never have qualified for the pass to begin with if I was in charge. People with more complex conditions, wheelchair users or those who cant go to the bathroom without assistance is who this pass was intended for in my eyes and I have no issues with that at all. Of course they should be able to use it.

But people telling me they need a quicker queue because they suffer from anxiety yet are a busy theme park on a Saturday with white knuckle thrill rides specifically designed to test your anxiety levels is just a nonsense. Sadly as its 2026 we've just become to accept this as normal now.

Common sense was finally used with their intention to make changes but they buckled at the first sign of controversy.

I see we are back to the usual they aren't really that disabled they don't need it topic this thread consistently gets to without fail.
Disability isn't one constant always need the exact same supports in every single environment, a shop is a completely different environment compared to a theme park in practice, it doesn't even need that deep a look to see a short queue in a shop isn't a tightly packed multi hour queue in a location designed to be a sensory assault.

Sorry but I dont see people who have mild ADHD and who suffer from mild anxiety as disabled and in need of this pass.

Disagree? Thats fine. Everyone entitled to their opinion.

Im not trying to upset anyone here. Im merely pointing out common sense has just been left in the rear view mirror.

Here's an idea: Engineer a deliberately long, obnoxiously loud RAP queue. Make it at least an hour long. Let people join it.
When they get to the batching area, ask to check their card again. Anyone handing over a RAP card, who is standing on their own two feet, with no obvious plaster casts or walking aids, has their card dropped in to a shredder right there and then.
Because if they can stand in a queue for an hour, they Do. Not. Need. A. RAP.

That would be a bittt firey with phones being used as rap cards!

Chippy near me on a Friday night gets utterly ridiculous queues. I'm talking a good 30-40 mins most weeks between 5.30 and 7pm with the queue half way down the street.

Going to be even worse when the ADHD and anxiety express lane gets added.

I posted this a couple of months back, but it seems apt to post a reminder:
This topic is to discuss the issues with RAP and constructive discussion on potential solutions.

What is not welcome on this forum is inflammatory language, generalisations and stereotypes against those who require genuine assistance at the parks.
Please try and keep discussion respectful, sensible, avoid generalisations and be realistic when suggesting potential solutions. Thanks

Invites for the Merlin Annual Passholder feedback survey are being sent out. There's an entire section dedicated to MAP holders who also use RAP. It's fairly well documented that these surveys do produce tangible results and changes. I would encourage any MAP and RAP holders to fill it out.
