Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2026 Discussion

Still waiting for the date for the VIP event thingy so I can sort out booking a day off work and everything.
Is it true that people attending the VIP event will only be able to ride Aviktas once? (I hope not)

I don't remember the Icon preview event, but does the park / ride open all day, or just for a few hours?

Don't know, hopefully it'll be a fun event. The one for the Big Dippers 100th birthday event was really good.

There’s a fair bit to catch up on here, so: -

- I expect the preview rides of Viky will be just the one, as were Icon’s It wouldn’t surprise me to see them selling a second ride during, such as they also did with Icon.

- There seems to be a collective amnesia with the new Flex pass ticket and the hailing of it as the return of pay-per-ride. A very similar system was in place right up until covid, where you could buy individual tickets for each ride. Icon for example was 9 tickets (translating to £9) if memory serves. I expect a similar level of pricing with this new ticket.

The point I suppose is that it’s not a return to the 90s, just an expensive way to access the park, because unlike nearly everywhere else that has a PPR system, you pay a significant amount for entry and then a similarly high price per ride.

- As for referencing the new ride as Viky - there was absolutely no chance I was ever going to call it that - at least tuntil I found out it means I’m a raving misogynist. I’ll also be sure to only ride PB Express when the engine being used is Geoffrey, and not Carol Jean.

Talk in other topics about dodgy adverts by merlin...

Very cheeky (tag on to Ye fuss I suppose) advert email from the Beach...

"Your Free Festival...This Weekend"

Turn It Up Festival.

See you at the gates for free entry then.

Or not.

A free festival, as long as you have paid your thirty quid to get in, that is.

Does the Geoffey Thompson loco still run on the Pleasure Beach Expess. Never seen nor ridden myself. And I am surprised the enclosed Coaches aren't used more

Geoffrey is a last resort, it's more difficult to drive and doesn't really play along these days (no doubt because it sits still most of the year). The engineers never get far away before something goes wrong. It had a few semi-successful days in service this time last year. The loco does move occasionally to access coaches in the bay platform.

As for the music festival, the original artists have nothing to worry about 😳

Last hour on the Beach today...ten rides open for the last hour...and no woodies.
Lovely day yesterday with short queues, but no new ride swinging and the ramp roped off.
I had what will be my last back seat ride on the Big One with dippy, spent all day today skiving work recovering.

The Big One back row is ridiculously brutal. I hate those bucket seats more than ever. The turnaround & helix are awful. Enough is enough. It should be replaced with a B&M hyper or RMC.

I heard that someone wanted to close Big Dipper this week, but apparently 12-4 was a compromise. It should be open without question if Nash is shut, and closing it an hour before the park shuts is ridiculous anyway, especially with Streak doing the same by default because it’s in Nick Land.

Speaking of which, Nash is opening late this season due to maintenance. No sign of any work being done on it yesterday.

Pay-per ride prices have been revealed, on top of an £18 entry fee...

What even is the point 🤦‍♂️

Am I tripping? I can’t see the price of Valhalla?
I suspect the above list has been compiled from the app, which won't be showing Valhalla until its resurrection next month.

When they first announced the flex pass idea, it sounded viable to me. The fact it's £18 before any rides are included smacks us firmly back down to reality. Almost a near-miss to common sense, really.

I'm really not sure who this is aimed towards, now I've seen the individual prices. I would think it's really unlikely anyone is just going to buy a single ride on anything in the lower half of the price list. Anyone interested in Big One or Icon will be buying a normal eticket. Either way, the numbers don't really add up.

The most logical solution, in my view, would be to have it automatically cap at a certain price point. Commercially, they could easily say £60 or whatever the gate price is, but a middle ground between online vs gate price would be a nice idea and potentially a better solution for guests who walk up and recoil at £60.

I haven't seen any literature on what £18 includes, but I would really hope it has something more than simply a QR code to get in, even if its just a discount code or similar.

The other glaring omission here, they could offer a way of 'upgrading' to a wristband normal eticket. Perhaps it could convert automatically after a set spending threshold is met.

The park is a little stuck with this one. I think there's a lot of potential customers that like the idea of pay per ride but there simply isn't the ride capacity to offer it at a price people are going to be willing to pay. If they already have 30min queues for the likes of Alice and Ghost Train with just wristband e ticket holders then why would anyone want to wait that long AND have to pay £10 for it?

PPR worked at the park in the 90s when there were twice the number of rides and almost all of them either ran more trains or else ran more efficiently.
