Was an X-Car ever planned for AT?

Just looking through the footage that TheThemeParkCentral uploaded of their trip through the AT Archive and at 1:45 You can see a 'Mood/Concept Board' which features an X Car on...

Here is the picture:

This is the Video I found it in!

I believe there was one planned as a possible use for the Black Hole tent. It would have featured a launch along upside down track!

When we visited the archives in November there was some mood boards for an X-Car, there where no theme mood boards or plans that we saw though for an x-car so i'm not sure how advanced any x-car plan came along.

There was also mood boards for a woody, a vertical launch coaster as well as stuff for what became Th13teen.

I think it was a staff member (current or ex) who leaked the plans for the BH X Car onto TTF. They only lasted a few days before they were taken down though unfortunately.

It looked absolutely incredible though, so obscene.

I believe the X Car was one of the coasters considered during the Dark Forest development period (before they'd even settled on the redevelopment of Ug Land as the project area).

I'll bet that if Towers had built it, all the hate for X-Cars would vanish overnight.

I seem to remember that was exactly what happened when SW7 was believed to be an X-Car.

Or it would have been the worst thing Towers had ever built... Upside down launch just sounds painful and wrong...

Sad thing about watching those videos is it would be a great excuse to restore some of the Towers and put all of that in there for public viewing instead of it just sat wasted in a store room.

The towers could for me become partly a reflection of itself and be restored to contain a museum to Alton Towers. Containing old ride cars, videos, boards, advertising all sorts.

Can anyone visit the archives? Where are they ?

I'm afraid not, we (TT at the time) were invited to visit them back in 2011. The archives were in the Towers however I have no idea if they are still there or if they are looked after.

:)

Shame would be a brilliant pay extra attraction for enthusiasts

An enthusiast of some sort stole several collections of photographs from the archive room and sold it on ebay 4 ish years ago and since then nobody's allowed in, and no one is employed to look after it anymore anyway. A shame that its not kept in a good way really.

I'd love to go back, we came across the original Nemesis plans right as we were about to leave so couldn't have a proper look!

:)
