Thorpe Park 2017: DBGT: Rise of The Demon

Are we sure the Victorian theme isnt because its easy to make it look run down? lol

Sure liking the trailer though
More than likely, but in fairness, a lot of Derren's work is in run-down, dark locations so I can forgive Thorpe this once. :p

I'm guessing Victorian because of the dolls, some of the concept art, the early posters around the park, the
Style of the adverts and the general way its marketed. I'm almost certain it will have Victorian elements in the theming at least.

Am I the only one who really couldn't give a hoot about this ride?

The evidence so far doesn't suggest that this will be anything more than mediocre...if we're lucky. Dark, run down creative-less concept art ? Check. Clichéd, 'psychological mind game' style teaser videos? Check. IP/celebrity/brand on board? Check. Yawn.

Dark ride or not I've given up expecting anything good from Merlin let alone Thorpe Park.

I dunno though, maybe low expectations are good and if it turns out to be more than just a bunch of technology reliant gimmicks strung together then it might just be a nice surprise.

To me it's all just become a bit 'why build a quality theme park when instead we can just throw up whatever we like around the park every couple of years so long a it's marketable then who cares?!' kind of mentality. Storm Dirge, I'm a non-Celebrity, Angry-has-been-Birds, Derren Brown etc.

Some advertising beginning for the new attraction.

Seems quite chilling!

It makes a nice change in the UK to see Mike Vallis speaking about enthusiasts in a postive light and enjoying the guess work going on.

I've been thinking a little though; Derren Brown and Thorpe keep saying that they think this is what the future of theme park rides is going to be. If so then great and huge credit to all parties involved. However Merlin haven't exactly been at the forefront of theme park developments, it is usually Universal and Disney. I'm sure the folks at Universal will have something to say about this being the future of theme park rides! Universal have worked with Steven Spielberg, Disney have worked with George Lucas and Thorpe are now working with Derren Brown, hmmmmm!!

:)

Have they narrowed down an opening date yet or are they still keeping it secret to allow time if needed for delays/teething issues? Last I heard it was still only saying 2016.

Whilst not in the same league as Disney/Universal with the £30million budget they should be able to put together a half decent ride. Whilst I don't buy the this is the future of theme park rides statement that's being thrown around I'm looking forward to finding out what its all about, just hope that the psychological aspects don't turn out to be a bit of a one trick pony.

Just revealed to myself clue 5 guys! Look at this! Never expected anything like this, doesn't fit themes so far?

Appears to be some sort of ghost or something, cant quite figure it out. Anyone have a clue?

It might take a couple of goes :p

It's all a little quiet at the moment following the viral doll thing last month. I'm guessing it's a case of catching up after the Christmas break and then seeing something new in the coming weeks :)

Hopefully we'll see something soon since Derren tweeted this earlier:
A day of dank filming and photos for Thorpe Park. Meanwhile, my new C4 show is on Tuesday, prepare your eyes and faces.
Wonder if we'll see an advert for the ride during the show? Would certainly be a good time to do it!

Given the caption of "Monday. 9AM." I'd say it's a countdown to the announcement of what it actually is
