What changes to operations should we expect post Covid-19?

Realistically what can merlin do when people ignore staff, just lowering the capacity doesn't make it covid secure if those allowed in ignore staff sometimes actively so.

Outdoors if people ignore staff then it depends how badly, if a group is constantly getting to close and being a nuisence, eject them (same as queue-jumping), if its just distancing issues then regular reminders.

But for indoor spaces there should be a maximum capacity and proper batching. I've been to shopping centre and had to queue to enter some stores where there is a maximum of 10 allowed and its one-in-one-out. That should be done with all indoor theme park spaces too. With fewer people inside it is easier to keep distance.

Yes they should be doing proper batching (which they are trying), I guess this gets into Merlin's general reluctance to kick queue jumpers out which is currently causing a covid secure compliance issue.

But part of my point was that outdoors there is a lot less "covid-secure" need, the ventilation helps significantly and a lot of the responsibility is on the people to not be selfish, not the space-owner.
Whereas for indoor spaces they should definitely be working hard to be "covid-secure".

I'm more of the opinion they need to be equally strict in actually enforcing the rules regardless so there's no inconsistency, because that's where you end up with people not caring (see Norris and a few MPs)
Edit: MPs not Maps

The end of Scarefest might be affected (just as well it ends this weekend) as I don't think the mazes will be able to operate under Tier 2 restrictions. Hex and Duel may be affected too.

I think the mazes and Hex/Duel would be able to operate under tier 2. It would just mean that as they are indoor spaces, only people from the same household group (including support bubble) can enter. However I would not expect Towers to enforce that with individuals having to take responsibility. They might ask if people are from the same household but they are not going to question people's responses.

I hope so, as if they come into force tomorrow that could affect me

I'm sorry, but your contribution to this thread and others are frustrating. You need to gain some perspective. It would be disappointing, sure, but there's an international health crisis going on. People, myself included, have family hoping to recover from this in hospital. I consider myself a pragmatist and am personally not particularly neurotic about the pandemic, but everyone needs to bite the bullet to some extent. Hex and Duel are not going anywhere.

All tier 2 means is you can only be with your own household/bubble indoors, no other friends or family. I expect a majority of groups at AT are already just their household (parents and kids) anyway. This will only affect 20-somethings going with other friends.

You are only visiting with people within your own household anyway?
I'm not actually, I'm going with close family friends (whom my familly has known for years), one of which is also a Personal Assistant for me. We've discovered that we're exempt becase they are supporting me.
I don't like thinking of it that way, but it makes me feel happier knowing we're legitimate.
We booked the tickets before the Tiered system was announced and I have no ne else to go with anyway.

Then as long as your bubble is six or fewer people you are fine.
I wouldn't expect venues to be interrogating groups to ask if you are all from the same household/bubble.
As long as you trust the people you are with of course.

You are way over thinking this trip and maybe need to step back and consider everything that is going on in the world.

Cattle pens aside, I think Towers are actually doing a good job with Covid. They're doing as much as they can without trying to ruin the experience. Europa were filling all seats up on their rides, I couldn't imagine that being allowed here, but then we had to wear masks in all outdoor queue lines which was horrible waiting for 55 mins for Wodan in the heat.

Towers rules were sensible and common sense. I didn't even read the rules before attending because if you don't know by now to stay a reasonable distance from others, wash your hands regularly (is it just me that washed my hands regularly before the pandemic anyway?) and wear a mask in indoor spaces then you're a moron.

My only criticism was the cattle pens and chevrons. There was enough light to see them for the most part (mostly) but the problem was they were heavily faded and need refreshing. This was particularly frustrating in the cattle pens where people with lesser common sense and/or consideration for their own actions were just ignoring the chevrons. I think Towers should have installed dividing screens in all cattle pens, particularly the Smiler and should've got the spray cans back out a while ago.

I would say by the end of the season most of the chevrons had worn away in the queue lines (TH13TEEN and Smiler was awful) also during scarefest it was pretty hard to even see where you were meant to stand at all due to worn away markings and dark areas.

however overall I think towers hasn’t been too bad this season in terms of COVID rules.

Yeah especially in the evening during Scarefest, when it's pitch black outside its impossible to see the chevrons.

I think that social distancing got worse the further into the season we got. By my last visit on the last day of the season, not many at all were following it. But I think it's been the best in the Smilers queue due to regular announcements by the ride operators rather than the same women
