Rank the B&M hypers you've ridden

I have done 8 in total but I really need to get back to America and do some of the newer ones. Fury 325 n Candimonium (still hate that name) are on my to do list. Also need to get to Canada's Wonderland when I next visit Cedar Point and do theirs.

Nitro still my fav Hyper though. Absolutely brilliant coaster.

I'll always regret in 2012 I went to Cedar Point and then flew up to Toronto to meet a friend who was living there at the time. Was only there a few days so couldn't justify spending one of the few days I had visiting Canadas Wonderland. Didn't really follow park news as much back then so was completely oblivious to the coasters they had.

Out of interest, what are the 8 you’ve done?

Shambhala, Nitro, Silver Star , Goliath x2 Raging bull, Apollo's Chariot, Intimidator

I lived on the East coast of America for all of 2009 and part of 2010 after I graduated University.

Fury 325, Mako, Candimonium, Leviathan, Orion and Behemoth all still to do though so some of the better rated ones not ridden yet. :(

Like you I love B&M hypers. I'm a B&M fanboy in general as I adore most of their coaster models. Inverts being my favourite.

Apollo's Chariot.... IN THE WORLD...!! ;)

In all seriousness, I am not too sure exactly how I would rank them but generally speaking I love a B&M Hyper. They are reliably good fun and make a great addition to any park's coaster lineup. Raging Bull is probably the poorest of those I have ridden, purely because it is quite limited airtime. Nitro has plenty of airtime plus one really quite intense upwards helix. If you could combine the first half of Diamondback with the second half of Apollo's Charriot you could end up with the best of the bunch!

Really keen to ride both Fury 325 and Mako.

I didn't rate Raging Bull that highly either. Definitely the weakest for me too however it was still good as it's a B&M coaster afterall. Even their 'bad' ones are better than some other manufacturer's decent ones.

Might be slightly controversial but I'd take Raging Bull over the Big One any day of the week. That's obviously an arrow hyper but still in same category. In fact I can confidently say that the Big One is the poorest hyper coaster I have ridden.

1) Fury 325 - Almost undisputedly the best ride of its type. A seemingly eternal first drop and a fast, interesting layout with unique elements. Make sure to ride in the front row for the best sense of speed and powerful ejector airtime.

2) Shambhala - A really good coaster, probably my favourite European B&M. The ending isn't the most impactful but it's never really bothered me as everything leading up to the MCBR is brilliant and that makes up the vast majority of the layout. I prefer to view it as a bonus hill after the final brake run!

3) Nitro - Manages to stand out in a park full of excellent coasters. Takes you on a serene scenic journey away from the bustle of the park with soaring floater airtime and a few forceful moments.

4) Apollo's Charriot - This coaster took me by surpise by being quite forceful and peppered with blasts of airtime. It's the only B&M hyper I've ridden that has the 'old school B&M' feeling. Being at BGW, it's also beautifully integrated into the landscape.

5) Diamondback - A decent coaster. Unfortunately it suffers from a nasty rattle which detracted from the ride for me.

6) Intimidator - A perfectly pleasant coaster but not very memorable. It suffers somewhat from being in the same park as its more prolific younger sibling.

7) Silverstar - The first half is severely over-trimmed. The second half can be a riot in the back row on a good day but under normal conditions, it's a bit too placid for my liking.

You already did back on the first page :tearsofjoy:

I've not thought about this too much before, but would probably go for:
  1. Nitro
  2. Shambhala
  3. Silver Star
  4. Apollo's Chariot
  5. Diamondback
  6. Raging Bull

Sorry to bump, but I've finally done a second one of these... (new in bold)
  1. Mako - SeaWorld Orlando (10/10, #1/91)
  2. Silver Star - Europa Park (10/10, #2/91)
There's not really any point in me doing an elaborate blow-by-blow description of each, because for my money, they are fairly similar rides that I rate quite similarly; as you can see from the rankings and ratings, they are my top 2 coasters, and both sit comfortably in my 10/10 tier of enjoyment. I adore both because they are both so fun and rerideable, with such sublime sustained floater air (these are easily my two favourite coasters for airtime I've yet experienced), as well as such a brilliant sense of speed, such comfort and such a general sense of wow factor and rerideability, which I truly love in a ride!

In terms of what actually separates them; after a good bit of thought and indecision, I decided to put Mako on top because I think its strongest airtime moments, such as its first drop and first big airtime hill, had slightly more impact than any single airtime moment on Silver Star, from memory, and while Silver Star is perfectly smooth, Mako just had this sublime feeling of 100% glass smoothness and complete refinedness that Silver Star couldn't quite match, and that was one thing I loved about it. I know that sounds phenomenally pedantic, but when you have two rides as truly top tier as Mako and Silver Star and it's the top spot being fought for, I'm afraid that pedantry has to be the deciding factor. And pedantry ultimately decided that Mako was still my number 1.

Don't get me wrong, though, Silver Star is still very smooth & comfortable for the most part, and its hills are still pretty damn impactful. One thing I'll give it is that both halves of the ride deliver awesome airtime in their own way; the first half wowed me with its exceptional sustained floater over every hill, while I was equally wowed by the phenomenal ejector pops in the second half! They whip you out of the seat brilliantly, and they're surprisingly sustained!

I really am splitting hairs here, though; they are both absolutely exceptional rides, in my opinion, and anywhere other than #1 and #2 for these 2 simply wouldn't feel right based on how much fun I had on each!

My word, the B&M Hyper is such a sublime ride type... despite concerns that SS might disappoint me and the B&M hyper experience wouldn't be as strong as I'd remembered, it delivered and then some, and all the wonderful memories came flooding back as soon as I was yanked down Silver Star's first drop and had my breath taken away by the phenomenal airtime!
