Legoland Windsor

On a tiny plus side, this latest Skyrider news is at least fostering some great leaps in creativity over in RCT...

Honestly, this and the real life picture of the solo piece of track are all destined to become a meme sooner or later, not sure what for though but it just has that thing about it.

Went to Legoland for a quick visit yesterday and the Submarines were open. Pretty sure the member of staff said for was a soft opening for one day only. They were still working on the queue line before where they used to take the photo, there is a new voice over in the subs, and it has just basically had a good clean underwater and they have put in some new models and taken out some old ones. The clean doesn't seem to have been extensive at the moment though as the shark in the queue line still has cobwebs on it.

I'm sure others who pay more attention than me will notice more changes when it properly opens.

Actually, couple of other things from our Legoland visit yesterday, noticed that the Canary Wharf bit in Miniland has gone

And I think the scoring in my seat on Ninjago was faulty:

I didn't go top score for the day, so something weird was going on.

Last theme park trip of the year:

- The whole area by Sky Rider is closed. You can access the cinema but nothing beyond that. Presume the remaining posts (and station perhaps) will be gone by Feb reopening.

- Deep Sea Submarine was open. Haunted House was not. It was breaking a lot on our visit earlier this month, seems like it’s having issues considering it was recently closed for annual maintenance.

- It’s busy! Lots of 40 minute queues and more.

Don’t know if it’s a New Year glitch or something catastrophic has happened with the weather but there are currently no rides open according to the app!

We usually visit today so looks like our decision to visit earlier was prudent.

I would imagine a glitch

Not sure how true it is, but there’s suggestions online that the puppet show and stunt show have both been cancelled for the foreseeable.

I’m guessing because of the ents cuts we are seeing across the Merlin parks. Hopefully it’s only temporary and if it is outsourced then the shows will return. Especially as Lego put planning in not that long ago to extend the puppet theatre.

I haven't been to LLW in a long time, but the stunt show is a crowdpleaser/eater and feels like a big part of the park, right? I can't imagine it's the sort of thing people just won't notice has suddenly departed.

Just seems massively short sighted in the coming years if/when Universal and the UK Pou de Foy park opens and everyone who wants to work in entertainment roles will be flocking to them instead.

The pirate show is basically the hub of the park, it’s somewhere people gather to sit on the steps (as there’s so little seating elsewhere) so I can’t imagine that will become dead space.

That being said I’m adopting a wait and see approach as it could still be temporary. Also I’m fairly sure the show didn’t take place in Feb anyway what with diving into frozen water.

The stunt show is a huge part of the parks history, and a huge part of the legoland experience. Genuinely gutting news, and is going to be a huge loss to the park.

The puppet show is also a huge loss and, whilst not something I've seen in years, something I look back on so fondly from my childhood.

Going to be honest I doubt this is anything more than a pause, the shows are popular. If I was to guess this is to allow this rumoured outsourcing plan to take over. Pretty sure at least the stunt show was outsourced already but if they are changing contracts I would guess the OG company isn’t going to stick around longer than they contractually have to.

The bigger question is when they return will the quality be any different.
