Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

There is no profit from the show, it has run for decades at a massive loss, the actual amount wrapped up in the accounts of several companies.
The show is now free, and over 90 per cent of the tickets for tonight's show are still available.
The cast and backroom staff put on a fantastic show that is worth watching...but nobody does.
They can still create costumes for rent in the industry, through the award winning stageworks, without a loss making ice show, that is about three decades out of date with the modern audience.
Bring back something like Eclipse, simple.

Like it or not, without the show and the infamous high standard that come along with a certain producer, the quality of the product would slip and their customers would look elsewhere (I’m talking customers such as Vogue and Grazia - the work at stageworks extends way beyond the Theme Park industry. )

It would be a shame to lose Hot Ice - it’s not as though the park have a history for replacing derelict / empty spaces (The Dome)

It would be a shame to lose it, but it has already lost its audience.
Typical theatrical attendances run around 50 to 75 percent don't they, very few make a good profit, very few sell out.
But 10% is 10%.
It must also be pretty demoralising for the performers and backstage staff to run to virtually empty houses on a routine basis.
Keep the stunning outfits, lights and music, just change the footwear.

The two for fifty, four for ninety nine offer on fri and sundays has been extended through the rest of the season, and bank holiday monday has been cut to the same price...on what was always one of the busiest days of the year.

Genuine question, are sales of speedy pass at BPB actually limited? Despite what some people claim, I have seen first hand that Merlin do limit their fastrack sales and they often do sell out at busy periods. But the numbers sold at BPB on busy days does seem to be kind of out of control. Great that it brings much needed cash into the park, but it must be painful for people waiting in the main queues.

They are, but it only limits the multiple rides ones - you can still buy one-shot on the app after they've 'sold out'.
It is quite rare though. They put a sign outside guest services when it happens

Even if you accept the notion that there has to be an annual loss-leading production to maintain the quality of their main product, and I'm not sure I do, why would that show need to run twice a day up to 6 days a week throughout the summer season, to mostly empty arenas?

Today was pretty wild. VIP speedy pass was clutch although I would say rides like the big one, icon etc had 10–15 cars full of speedy pass at all times
My girlfriend and I noticed how many people were using Speedy Passes yesterday. What was advertised as 45 minutes on Icon took us closer to 70! The queue had periods of no movement at all. I don’t think the staggered openings of most of the rides helped though.

Here's a thought about Skyforce. If they get it running and through it's ADIPS certification at the end of summer season, since this certificate lasts for 12 months they could then theoretically operate the ride next season if they wanted to. Remember all we were told was it wouldn't open for 2025

Ended up in Guest Services this evening and predictably, the speedy pass sold out signs were out in force.

The speedy queues for Icon and Big One were ridiculous length at ride close, I'd argue they must have been longer than the main queue easily. Grand National's speedy queue was all the way out the exit and onto the path. This seemed to disappear quite rapidly at 10, I wonder if they were turned away? The main queue was obviously lengthy as well.

In my view, there should have been staff managing expectations, as allowing the speedy queues to build up so much must surely have caused a lot of complaints.

Staff managing expectations?
Causing complaints?
Rake in the money, forget the rest.

The Beach "makes or breaks" its year on getting at least a dozen "super peak" days in...yesterday was one of those...with good weather.
They don't care about complaints on such days, they just suck up the money and explain the terms and conditions, then tell you to email in.
Then ignore the email.
Simple.
I think the Beach may have done well this year, mainly down to the weather, a good dry summer.

Friday was similar - we managed a good day with planning where we use speedy pass but these queues were still 30+
App was reporting 60 mins for icon but the queue was around towards the big one entrance so closer to double that.
Our speedy pass queue was still over 30 mins for example.
