UK Politics General Discussion
Because the sort of people who would take the bounty would actually be trying to murder them not just leave them in France, they would destroy the boat and watch the occupants drown.- jon81uk

Food & Beverage: The Aramark Era begins
Fewer people buy alcohol-free drinks so less economy of scale, a lot of people having non-alcoholic will just have Diet Coke etc. I don't see the beer producers dropping the price of NA beer down to similar prices to soft drinks. Also the cost of the staff to pour the drink, the heating...- jon81uk

£7.50 is fairly normal in London, now even in a paper cup. So I assume Alton Towers expects the same “tourist” prices. I agree that £4.50 isn’t a great price for a pasty either!- jon81uk

It’s the Towers Street Instagram account. A pint of beer (maybe cider) and a pie (but pictured is a pasty) is £12 from the Courtyard bar. Is Facebook working better? https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BHPRcGNAo/- jon81uk

That’s not the point though. I’d be happy if it was 100% self-ordering and the tablet scans the annual pass. Or 100% staff ordered for those who want it or need it for the discounts. But this weird mix isn’t helping passholders.- jon81uk

Merlin Entertainments: General Discussion
Galactica was jet washed last closed season as usual. Or the easily accessible bits anyway. Please give citation and links to any rumours before making clear statements that something will happen. especially regarding safety implications- jon81uk

Disneyland Paris: General Discussion
Its not even all E-ticket really, Frozen is probably a D-ticket ride really. But other than DLP Adventure Studios, there aren't any other parks doing this? Its the Harry Potter effect. Those lands featured shopping and dining as core aspects so now all theme park lands need to.- jon81uk

UK Halloween events
Isn't the only major event outside of the theme parks, Tulleys? Which has a thread about last year https://towersstreet.com/talk/threads/tulleys-shocktober-fest-scream-park.5234/- jon81uk

The Merlin parks will survive Universal opening. There will still be a price difference between them and they will offer different things.- jon81uk

[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved
The existence of "old restrictions" is questionable anyway. I think @Squiggs has said before that there isn't actually any hard set rules, just general guidance. Its possible that AT could ask for planning permission for a coaster taller than the treeline and it be permitted in the right part of...- jon81uk

Strange questions that sometimes need answering (or not asking in the first place really).
There is probably quite a lot of this sort of thing that vloggers and similar should be doing and likely don't.- jon81uk

[202X] Project Horizon (SW9?): Planning Approved
You could close off the northwest side of the area now anyway to redevelop the theatre and Nickelodeon and still have Gangsta Granny operating.- jon81uk

How often would you replace a phone or tablet?
Relatively speaking Apple aren't too bad overall for this, I don't think they plan obsolescence for their devices but will stop the updates when features move on that phone can't support. iOS 18 last year (2024) will run on iPhone XS released in 2018 so six years of software updates and at least...- jon81uk

The Future of Dark Forest
I wouldn't directly go for chained oak but a chair-o-planes like a Whomping Willow (changed enough not to get the Harry Potter lawyers) would be a decent fit. Technically the ride already has the chains so fits with the chained oak too really. Co-pilot made it a bit too angry but this is the...- jon81uk

How often would you replace a phone or tablet?
I chose five years in the poll, but think I've generally changed my iphone around every four years now. Recently went from 12 pro to 16 pro. I did replace the battery on the 12 after just over two years, but I used the phone quite a lot. Could probably have kept the 12 Pro a little longer and...- jon81uk
