Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

I no longer have a Twitter account, but all of the info is collected on the DLPR site here. Not really many new details here other than the massive size of the show building. I wonder if this will be a normal log flume ride like Tiana's or something a little more advanced like Shanghai's Pirates or DisneySea's Frozen ride.

Getting a bit bored of a "land" consisting of a single ride.

To be fair, there will also be a quick service restaurant and a restroom facility!

It looks great and the test flume troughs and material testing out the back show it will have some twisty waterways.

I can't help but think this expansion is feeling cheap even though it's got a massive price tag. Doubling the size of the park* and adding a clone of the poor man's version of of frozen and not the coaster as HK did. PLUS two cheap spinner rides AND one late to the party unique ride is quite poor for 7+ years of building.

While I agree the Epcot style lake and shows are a great addition the parks are now committed to closing before sunset in summer, which is another negative if your creating a firework, drone and light show.

I wonder how many new retail and food locations have been added to the expansion. Is it a 1:3 ratio or more?

Why could they have not added some kids rides to the lion king land? T&P bug carousel, Rafikis Treetop swinger's, or Narla's Jungle ride. (Like tinks at TDSea)

These filler rides as dynamics to the land and help fill suck up families. Can you imagine a point where both frozen and lion king our down?

I don’t mind if the land is immersive and entertaining in of itself. Donkey Kong Country has 1 ride but there are games to play, shops, food, great photo and viewing points. Yes technically it probably counts as part of Nintendo World though personally I think it feels like its own land.

Obviously more rides would be better though I think the nature of these film based attractions often makes that difficult.

It’s brilliant how DisneySea put Frozen, Peter Pan and Tangled all in one area and made it cohesive. Surely another film could have similarly tied in with Lion King?

Looks like a normal flume ride. Nothing wrong with that, but at least from the plans it doesn't look like they're using any sort of advanced ride system.

I think a Lion King dark ride is basically impossible to mess up... but I would have said the same thing about Star Wars or Spider-Man or The Princess And The Frog and Disney has somehow managed to fumble all of these properties recently. I'm not sure where the aversion to just doing "book report" dark rides came from but hopefully they're over that by now and we can just get a scene-by-scene recreation of the movie rather than a reinterpretation where we follow Simba on a journey to go pick wild okra or what have you.

Agreed. One thing in their defence, and I'm not saying a swing ride is something to be particularly positive about, but that wasn't part of the original plans until it appeared later on. Maybe when they get around to construction they'll have another small ride at least to plop in, though like that it might be more likely to fill the space between "lands".

Yes it’s definitely a normal log flume it’s not been rumoured to be the more advanced Shanghai pirates system. Not sure will see that ride system in Paris for a good while as after two new boat rides I would think anything added after will be something different.

It’s likely that will next be used for The avatar ride going in at California. Plus possibility as the second Villians land ride in Florida, although I believe the ride system used on Peterpan in Japan and new avengers ride in California was also considered for Villians so will see which they ultimately go for.

Does anyone else find it interesting that in this massive show building the ride takes place over multiple floors yet it never seems to cross over itself.
As a result there's a lot of space in the building that isn't taken up by the ride, but appears to be used either as offices or very high set extensions.
I also still find it strange that they'd build an onsite test trough for what appears to be a very standard log flume. This clearly isn't a Shanghai Pirates style of ride, but I can't help but feel there's something different about it.

Although Frozen is just the slow moving boat ride really, its completely different to a log flume.

Also there are zero water based attractions at that park as it stands which is out of sync with most other Disney parks. In fact off the top of my head the only other Disney park I can think of that doesn’t have a water based ride is Hollywood Studios.

So these additions will help to broaden the mix of attractions across the whole park, even if they are next to each other.

Im really sick of the “Oops! all E-tickets!” one ride lands we keep getting. There are some rare exceptions where I think it could work, but isn’t it weird that they keep doing this?

Also, they seem to spend a lot of money on lands that are somewhat underwhelming creatively, to build them at an absolute snails pace to only feature one ride! And of course, loads of shops..

Has anyone else noticed that Disney and Universal have switched to feature a LOT more retail as of late? Of course, it is easy to see why, but It feels I see even more “influencers” just talking about what they bought and ate over how good the rides are.
