    Serious questions and musings

Motorway is easier as just straight lines and don’t need to worry about cars coming toward you in the other lane, or tight windy corners, or illegally parked cars, or a bus pulling out the bus stop.

    Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Exactly. At times some management realised more work is needed leading to things like TLC at Alton Towers but they were jet washing and similar anyway. I’d celebrate a little more replacing theming like TLC did to Mutiny Bay and similar but just adding more paint is routine.

    Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Hard to say really until the park opens in March? We don’t know what level of cleaning and painting is happening, but it does take place in February & March most years.

    2026: General Discussion

Although it can also lead to people putting off visiting until the new thing opens up. It dodn't look worth bothering going to Chessington in 2025 with so much closed. Paw Patrol will help, but I can see people not wanting to visit until 2027 when Minecraft opens. Universal also saw attendance...

    Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Doing what is expected isn't really "hard work". They aren't particularly going above and beyond, compared to Paultons adding new dinosaur figures to an existing area which is adding something not expected, Chessington painting stuff is routine maintenance.

    Aspro Parks Group (UK)

Yes Wikipedia says owned by the local authority but can’t find other sources https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hastings_Castle Also the borough council were looking for refurbishment proposals last year https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c06lrvz1dx3o

    Dreamland Margate: General Discussion

They still offered pay-per-ride in addition to wristbands. We went in 2019 and paid just for Scenic Railway without riding anything else. Can’t remember how much it was just for the one ride but something around a fiver sounds about right

    2026: General Discussion

Yep I think the changes to outsource a lot of the operations is also a big factor in the decline in the staffing aspect as well as the overall food changes and potentially entertainment (we haven't really seen the full outcome of the ents outsourcing), I doubt staff feel as engaged when not...

    Dreamland Margate: General Discussion

How many tourists come to see a concert at Dreamland vs how many come for the rollercoaster? I would expect the concerts drive more people to the area in general. But yes, Dreamland as an amusement park is another small thing to add to the list when visiting seaside towns, but I don't think...

    [🌎 Universal GB] General Discussion

Exactly, it is not just "a rather dry statement" it is a deliberate statement to reinforce the point that he wants those bodies to support them to move quickly to approve things quickly. I think the entire point of Anglian Water speaking to the media is to put pressure on local planners, the...

    Dreamland Margate: General Discussion

I agree the council could use the event licensing to force them to operate as an amusement park too, but there is a strong chance of Live Nation just selling up and making it someone elses problem. The council will also be concerned about hotel and other secondary spend of people travelling to...

    Dreamland Margate: General Discussion

Yes Ticketmaster is a bad company with operations that are not consumer-friendly but I think that is a very different topic and not related to running an old rollercoaster.

    Pet Hates

It might be a placebo effect rather than actually doing anything, but I do think a Magnesium glycinate supplement is helping me sleep deeper and not wake up as easily. Although two nights ago our smoke detector went off at 4.30am waking me up, couldn't find a fire but think it might have been...

    Dreamland Margate: General Discussion

On what basis do they have no right? As you say the listed status does not force operation. What makes them corrupt?

    [🌎 Universal GB] General Discussion

I think Geoff Darch's (Anglian Water's head of strategic asset planning) comments are at least strongly worded, even if not actually complaints. They definitly don't read as a sunshine and lollipops situaltion, they are not happy they need to work quickly to upgrade the sewage (Water Recycling...

    Disneyland Paris: General Discussion

The magic carpets don't really fit anywhere, they aren't particularly part of the Hollywood-styled World Premiere Plaza unless you can shoe-horn an animation reference in. and yes, way to much open space around that lake.

In The Night Garden Boat Ride

the space inside the ride is the In the Night Garden figures, animatronics and set pieces. Without them you would just have a boat going past other rides queues.

In The Night Garden Boat Ride

I thought you said removing it would add another ride or two? Which is it, remove or keep?

    The Public Transport Thread

I think its more that the flight prices are very low rather than train prices high. But its possible with both modes of transport to find lowest prices on select days if you aren't worried about going on peak dates.
