Wicker Man - General Discussion
Yes the pre-show room should have been larger and the station needs another switch-back of queue space. The whole building needed to be bigger. The pre-show is good and should exist, but it doesn't need to be as crammed in, its bad design and bad operations.- jon81uk

Not seen that before then I checked the golf page not the parking one. But yes with golf at £5 why pay for parking!- jon81uk

Because the ticket price has barely gone up, it’s been in the £34 area for a long time now. Personally I think a £40-45 ticket with no parking fee would be better than £30-39 plus a share of £13. Not any longer, the standard discount is now 25% off the online price. I’ve no idea why they have...- jon81uk

No, its just repaint and new name. Whereas I think Nemesis Reborn is just a new credit as its new track as well, but I can understand why others wouldn't agree.- jon81uk

Thats got to be one of the worst looking queue lines in the UK? Rita has a bad cattlepen but that Paw Patrol one looks bleak.- jon81uk

Although the weather is predictably unpredictable, they have had large amounts of snow and other cold temperatures several times before. I think this is why they stopped trying to open Runaway Mine Train and concentrated on the pirate theme, they had a couple of Feb half term weeks and even...- jon81uk

That then goes back to debate on the type of event AT want to run and the price charged, is it a smaller scale family focused event for those with small children or a bigger event with multiple rides for those over 1.2m and who are happy doing scary dark rides. This in turn potentially pushes...- jon81uk

Yes I get there is the need to salt/grit more paths if the weather is bad but getting Fountain Square and Walliams World open would be better than Katanga Canyon. Having the Carousel, Frog Hopper and Gangsta Granny open would be perfect for the family half term event.- jon81uk

I made one post that mentioned "I do wonder if it would be better for AT to block passholders.." and then multiple further posts which refeerence blocking tiers of passes or utilising blockout dates. I would argue that the Pirate Takeover is a premium event, with additional live entertainment...- jon81uk

Do you see all blackout dates as arbitrary bans? Is the fact gold & essential passes can't go to the fireworks arbitrary? Or that essential passes can't visit in October half term? most of the current blackout dates seem pretty considered and I don't see why you find the idea of adding February...- jon81uk

Yep Paulton's might charge £46 for entry but Alton Towers its £30+ for entry and then you will likely want to spend £35+ on Fasttrack due to the queues.- jon81uk

Battle Galleons should have a live actor on each boat this week as Sea dog Starkey's Sailing School. Don’t think the guns are on (but I’ve not watched any vlogs, just looked at the AT website)- jon81uk

This is effectively what Alton Towers offered at Christmas and half-term for many years. No passholders and not always day tickets, Christmas and Feb half term was a boutique low volume event for hotel guests only to fill hotel rooms in the Winter. They then expanded the half term event and...- jon81uk

OK yes in the first post I suggested banning all passholders, but in later posts I also suggested utilising blockout dates, as Merlin did in the past, to restrict it to the higher tier passholders, to ensure they are getting higher income. But the revenue per admission from an annual passholder...- jon81uk

Paultons barrier to annual pass ownership is the overall fee for the pass coupled with restrictions on entry, their cheapest pass is £172, so £43 more than Merlin but for a single park and you won't get entry this week for that price, need the £290 premium pass for entry at half term. They are...- jon81uk

If "90% of the attractions are closed" then charging half the normal day ticket price seems reasonable, or are you also arguing that £27 (with a 25% off code) to £39 for a day ticket in main season is also too cheap? I'd probably say that anything under £35 is too cheap for main season, but £18...- jon81uk

Which is why it should have been done proactively not retrospectively? The previous tiers of passes had a lot more blockout days, it would have been quite possible to keep the silver pass and discovery pass with a block on half term and only allow platinum passholders in on these days with...- jon81uk
