If The Smiler accident didn’t happen..

The cross valley was canned a long time ago, and I think the flume site was always going to be next. So I'm not sure much would have changed there. I don't think we'd have seen the TLC stuff, but the park probably would have been more willing to keep Sub Terra running longer and I think the park...

    Car Parking - Improvements

Alton Towers have paid for/contributed to local infrastructure improvements in the past quite a few time’s. Usually a little more local though, like traffic calming measure in the small villages you have to pass through. Its also not unusual for large businesses to either proactively, or to be...

    Legoland Windsor

Guessing the contract came up for renewal, and Disney weren't too keen for it to continue after there rediculously huge investment in Star Wars attractions. Not too unsuprising really. I guess LEGO will continue to own the rights to make the toy sets though.

    2020: General Discussion

Aaaw, Towers Almanac. That's a blast from the past!

The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

A street fair/carnival theme could work. Possibly even a vintage theme to fit with the Towers and surroundings. A couple of flats with a modern twist on classic fairground rides or even get some retro stuff in there.

The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

Whatever the theme, it needs a major attraction adding that would pull visitors towards it. If not, the area will continue to struggle because there is literally no reason to wander in to it.

2019: Peter Rabbit Hippity Hop - Junior Drop Towers for CBeebies Land

My guess is something like Cranky’s Crane at Drayton. Assume that comes from Zamperla though like pretty much all of Thomas Land does.

The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

The current development plan does expire this year (2019) so it is likely a new one will make an appearance at some point this year or next. I think people have to be cautious when criticising how Alton Towers delivered on the existing plan. Firstly, it was never a concrete outline of what was...

The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

Bigger plans for the area? Like what? Any evidence to support these claims? If they had any idea that fell through. This isn’t the stop gap until they work up plan b. This will be plan b.

In what way is it clearly temporary though? Half-arsed maybe, temporary I fear not.

The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

That makes no sense. The coach park is 2km away from where the attraction is being built.

Drayton Manor Park - Splash Canyon Incident

This really is such sad news. My thoughts go out to her family and not just the staff directly involved, but the entire Drayton Manor team.

The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

Yeah, something like that. It makes you wonder what changed for Alton Towers then, and how much of those plans morphed into what became the London attraction. I guess the London attraction perhaps offered better return on investment for such a high-profile IP compared to Towers - with dedicated...

The use of Facebook by Alton Towers

Their content strategy is a bit off. They would be better off showing people why they should visit/stay without every advert focusing on some kind of hard sell. Looking at likes as an indicator of popularity isn't really very reliable. Liking something, especially on Facebook is just far to...

2018: Wicker Man - General Discussion - SPOILERS! - Part One

They won't care. Exagerating the budget in this way isn't exclusive to Merlin, so most of their customers will be doing it. Plus, I'm guessing the cost of rides are highly bespoke with detailed negotiations, discounts, with list prices rarely being the actual amount paid. Just to defend these...

The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

I'm fairly sure a Dreamworks themed area was on the cards when they were looking at options for the CBeebies area before the BBC deal was chosen. I agree it would be great, but can't see it happening myself.

    Towers Loving Care

More than likely stuck on a container ship from china!

    Towers Loving Care

They did say work would continue throughout the season, so I'm guessing we'll see some of these smaller jobs throughout the year. Hopefully see some of those 'closed for refurbishment' signs come down before the summer!

    New Log Flume

Interesting concept, but does it risk having low re-ridability?

    The magic has disappeared!

Ah, the joys of loitering around the theme park online community for 15 years. This topic always rears it head every few years and whilst in many ways, the experience has deteriorated over the last 10-15 years, in others, it's considerably improved. The most likely factors however contributing...
