I also heard the Lego rumour some time back. It would make sense given how popular a theme it is, and now especially more so given who owns the majority shares in Merlin
 
Whatever the theme, it needs a major attraction adding that would pull visitors towards it. If not, the area will continue to struggle because there is literally no reason to wander in to it.

Whilst I don't disagree that a big attraction would attract people, I don't think that would be necessary. High capacity, good rides would attract people as the lines would be short. For example, if the area was re-themed into a street carnival area with a dozen-or-so flat rides I am sure there would be high foot-fall as the lines would be substantially shorter than the big coasters.

For me, the key to the area would be the theme - I have said many times I would love a Horrible Histories theme. A dark boat ride themed around viaducts and sewers (kids love talking about poop!), utilise the 4d theatre for a new custom film. And a couple of flats with loose themes (eg. 'hangman' drop ride, a crazy-bulls ride themed to wild horses). Add in a couple of walk-through s and you have a relatively low-cost themed land with high capacity

Fantastic idea, HH is also a parent friendly theme too. A splash ride themed to Victorian sewers would be great.
 
A Horrible Histories land would work because it would bridge the gap between Cbeebies and Nemesis. I would want to see the Frog Hopper rethemed as a drop hanging however if the Twirling Toadstool is still in storage then it could be rethemed to the Tyburn Tree and guests could 'do the Tyburn jig'. I don't see anything that could be done with the gallopers or the driving school so they could be moved elsewhere in the park. The 4D cinema could show Roman gladiator fights perhaps using the water effects to simulate bloodshed. It would also be nice to see (though unlikely) the gory games (watch Horrible Histories: Gory Games if you are unfamiliar with what I am talking about) as they are both fun to play and fun to watch. Actors could roam around the park and explain historical events while in costume of the period.
 
With a horrible history film coming out. This would be the perfect time to change CCL to Horrible history land

Do we really want yet another Merlin dingy/dilapidated theme? Especially sitting between Dark Forest and Hex.

I have to say I enjoyed the quirky themeing of CCL when it first opened. The issue was that it had no stand out attractions to pull people into the area. Whatever a retheme might involve, it needs to have at least one good quality anchor attraction.

I can’t help but think we will get a family IP and that IP is what will be relied upon to pull people in, rather than a noteworthy new attraction.
 
It made me laugh when someone just said they are sick of dingy themes which is immediately followed up by a suggestion for a Wild West area.

Not like they’re stereotypically known for guns, outlaws, dust, dilapidated buildings and men with moustaches you wouldn’t let children or women near.

Plenty of parks have family-friendly wild west areas. :tearsofjoy:
 
I feel that Vintage would be more popular than Horrible Histories because it is not another dark themed area and there is a big market for retro and nostalgia as Blackpool can prove.
