I like it, but perhaps just a little more colour would be nice.

I'd imagine it will look even better when complete with working effects!

Agree with @Rob on this, Flume had a much bigger and stranger contrast in Mutiny Bay. I think Mutiny Bay is a little cliched for a theme anyway, so It'd be good if it had a retheme to an old Saxon village (on the border to the site of the Britons) where Battle Galleons is rethemed to Viking longboats. The village itself would obviously be more kid friendly, but still put some animal hides, axes, shields around. Less paving and more green floor areas would be good too! hmm... Rohan from Lotr sounding music would fit well too.

Your lack of faith in Towers and Merlin not only surprises me, it disappoints me!
I'm fully expecting some fire effects to go wrong in testing anyway and we'll never get to ride the thing.

@Bert2theSpark I like to retain an element of youthfulness but I am aware it's fine line between youth and tragic.

I'm not a regular at thorpe or chessington but the fire effects on both the swarm and scorpion express appear to be quite reliable. I hope that they will be the same with sw8!

I'm one of Merlins biggest critics, but I can't see how this won't be an improvement on the moss infested Flume theming that was there before.
I'm just concerned that they are installing fire effects next to a coaster made of wood in the first place, but I'm sure they know what they are doing....

Don't worry, Apocalypse at Six Flags Magic Mountain is a wooden coaster with fire effects, and that hasn't burnt down in the 8 years it's been open.I'm just concerned that they are installing fire effects next to a coaster made of wood in the first place, but I'm sure they know what they are doing....

Funny how all the wood coasters with fire effects are GCI's...

On the way home this weekend, we saw 6 big canisters with gas on the side of them. The sort that look like they get hidden away and supply gas to the effects. Could be a few different fire effects hopefully.
On park, they have done a really good job of restricting access to SW8, while keeping Sharkbait Reef open. Heading back in to mutiny bay, and standing near the parrot gave a good view of the Wickerman Centre piece which is looking really impressive from a distance. Just a shame it was difficult to get a decent photo.
Talking of the Mutiny Bay Parrot, it did make me smile when telling us about a brilliant Pirate show we should go and watch. Someone might need to update the audio before next season
