Has anybody actual tried to jet wash an entire theme park?
They literally start day 1 of closed season, and finish just before main season starts.
It really isn’t something that can be done all year, it’s a mammoth job.
And they really do this every year, I’ve no reason to lie about that!

One person with one washer isn't enough.
We have said all this repeatedly over the last few months in another topic.
Large amounts of green cover creates algae, then mould.
It needs cleaning, then treating.
It is a big job, and it can be done every day of the year, before opening, and after closing.
Not rocket science, just cleaning up.

There are people on this forum who work at the park, and people who used to work at the park and people living with people who work at the park.
This is the first time they have Jetwashed that part of the Smiler pit since it opened.
Other parks manage to keep jetwashing and sprucing up their parks mid season. Never mind over 4 months of closed season. It’s not rocket science. That’s not to say they don’t do any jetwashing it’s just a surprise that they are doing this much as it’s not usual.
Hopefully they have turned over a new leaf

Everyday, even during closed season, the road sweepers cover the whole park early in morning. Once the sweepers have finished in the morning, the rest of the day is spent jet washing. It normally takes about 2 days to do an area the size of Galactica’s brake run and waiting area, so doing half one day and have the next looks silly, especially over night and is would take probably 4 or 5 evenings during season if you’re allowing time for the technical services team to do their ride sign offs.
Another example of Jet-washing during season is a monorail train, this job takes a day if done properly, and the trains are normally done once or twice through the year, but I’m sure you all always notice that.
Also, I know the place isn’t perfect, doing almost a decade with them I’m well aware of that, but jet washing is something they always do. It’s not the miracle cure for dirt that people seem to think it is, and it’s not a quick job either.

I’ve just read through all of the comment you are replying to and if you actually read to the end, he’s agreeing with you. He’s not saying Towers is perfect and they do all this amazing cleaning work but just to bring it back to the original point.
People are surprised that Smiler has been jet-washed. It gets jet-washed every year. And after that it seems to have got a bit out of hand...

One of those jobs, much like sweeping leaves for days on end that nobody notices. More should be done, but the only way they could maintain the park like they need to is by hiring a full team for purely maintenance and you know Towers are never going to do that.

As far as I can see, no announcement has been made from Towers, so not sure where this info has come from?

I agree, the price jump is a bit big, but the product is a fun and exciting one, something that fits a theme park environment well, so I imagine it will be popular. I for one am looking forward to it!

Yeah but if I'm reading it right isn't it £12 for the first time use, then future visits its only £6 so actually cheaper than the refillables currently? Admittedly that doesn't favour 1 time per season visitors. I guess their justification for the rises is the extra flavours available.

I really like the idea and always was interested by it at Thorpe, although not interested enough to spend any money on the product. I think the only way the pricing is an issue is if they completely scrap the previous refills, leaving no other option. If the old refills are still available, it’s not a problem because you’ve then got the choice. I imagine they will still do the hot drinks refills, will have to wait and see.

Coca-Cola Freestyle machines always seem popular, and you see them at a lot of places now; for example, Vue cinemas have them now, as well as Thorpe. Admittedly, I never mix and match (I'd rather stick to just Diet Coke), but I know a lot of people who do.
Part of me would like to see Towers/Merlin sign a soft drink deal with Pepsi, as I must admit that I controversially prefer Pepsi to Coke (well, I prefer Diet Pepsi/Pepsi Max to Diet Coke, as I don't drink the full-fat versions), but most people seem to prefer Coke, so I don't see that happening.

That's the same everywhere in the hospitality industry...back in the mid 90s, my partner worked in a small hotel. One morning I was helping out and had to serve a customer with a glass of orange juice. She told me to pour it out of a carton in the fridge - which was an Asda Farm Stores/Value carton which at the time was about 50p for a couple of litres. They were charging way over £1 for a small glass that was probably no more than about 200ml.
