Mack have trademarked "Adventure Park Europa", APPARATUS OMH" and "TRANSFERATOR OHM". And the last two have sent people into speculation overdrive.

EP have been releasing Adventure Club of Europe based books recently, the third one comes out in Autumn later this year - the synopsis teases it will be set in Croatia and feature a phantom of the underworld that is said to live in the catacombs under the Zagreb theater. The four ACE Scouts when in the underworld also come across an apparatus built by Nicola Tesla (who was from Croatia).

This has all created quite a speculation buzz among fans - alongside Romania, Croatia is the other most often rumoured country the new themed area in the park might be (supposedly Michael Mack has always been keen on it since his wife is from there).

The mention of catacombs brings to mind the another rumour about the new area over the years; that Traumatica's mazes would be permanently housed in the area's basement level.

And last but not least the area's main attraction the new coaster - there have been rumours it will actually be duelling coasters. Michael Mack's remark a couple years back (as posted earlier in this thread) about the ride featuring a couple kms track have only added to that rumour/speculation.
The duel OHM names of Apparatus and Transferator - potential names of the coasters?

Who knows. Might all be some crazy coincidences. Maybe some other Telsa/electricity themed attractions will be in whatever Adventure Park will turn out to be (another midway beside YULLBE? FEC? ACE based Adventure Land retheme?).

Brilliant post @CSLKenny - thanks! Very intersting that the next ACE book looks like it might be set in Croatia yet Croatia does not feature in Europa-Park at all. That would seem to me like quite a big indication that they might be looking at Croatia for the next new area.

I've long-held that EP should look to Eastern Europe and/or the Balkans for their next area, and I think Croatia could work well. It's admittedly not a country I would've originally thought of, but it's a good choice if that's what they've decided to go for.

What sort of themes might they draw upon for a Croatia themed country? I do apologise, as I’ll admit I don’t know an awful lot about Croatia and it’s culture, but I was more intrigued as the park has drawn on some quite interesting themes for some of the previous countries; for example, Iceland does a blend of the research experiment (Blue Fire/Whale Adventures) and Scandinavian mythology (Wodan) themes.

As for the coaster; duelling coasters would be exciting! Universal’s Epic Universe is said to be featuring two huge duelling Mack coasters, so I certainly think that it’s not out of the question that Mack might build a duelling thrill coaster of some sort at Europa. I take it based on the electrical names (transistor and apparatus could both be used in the context of an electrical circuit, and ohm is actually the SI unit of resistance) that they would probably be launch coasters?

To add the book tie in - I just checked the shop and the description for the latest book states "The children's book from 8 years of age on the "Voletarium" is the continuation of the new children's book series "The Flying School of Adventurers" based on existing and upcoming attractions at Europa-Park". o_O

I hope they look to Dubrovnik for inspiration in terms of the architecture for the Croatian area. That would certainly be the closest we'll ever come to a Game of Thrones themed area anywhere in the world, and it's something I'd only really trust Europa to pull off.

I'd expect to see some castles and medieval style theming in the area too. Europa haven't really got anything like that yet, hotel aside.

A Croatian area was always rumoured and would sit perfectly next to the Greece area. It was also assumed the new area would feature plug and play spaces for Halloween mazes.

    EXCITING TIMES!

I've got to admit while I was hoping for a Transylvania theme to go with Horror Nights this potentially sounds better. More fitting with the area, a style we know Europa can do well and yet it is a place we don't often see represented.

The Tesla connection also opens up so many possibilities.

Hmmm, could this be a new name for the park itself with the hope that the resort with colloquially become known as 'Europa Park'? Seems particularly ambitious if so, as any Eurodisney fan will surely attest.

They could perhaps go down a haunted forest theme. I visited the Plitvice Lakes years ago and it's a very spooky place in the evening. There are Fire Flys everywhere, Wolves howling in the distance and Bears roaming the area.

    Stunning part of the world...

I would be incredibly shocked if that was the case - Europa Park has their name or initials written everywhere, it would be a huge investment to change. People know and recognise the Europa Park name, it makes sense and there really isn't any reason to change it.

To me, it sounds like another Midway attraction that they are planing close to Rulantica and YULLBE - perhaps an arrival ropes course and other adventure excitement. I could see the name fitting well to something similar to the Bear Grylls experience in Birmingham. It seems as though they are creating a mini CityWalk or Disney Springs with restaurants and other things to do.

This is all very exciting speculation. Croatia would be an excellent choice of land considering it’s proximity to Greece (and importantly similar climate and architectural styles).
Thumbs up from me regarding a duelling coaster too - wasn’t Wodan originally meant to be a pair of coasters?

It will have been quite some time since EP created an entirely new land - Ireland and Scandinavia only really being a retheme/rebuild. It’s really quite exciting to imagine what the scope of this new development would be, since they’ll be starting from a blank canvas.

Excluding those two areas, it will have been close to a decade since the construction of a new area and with the growing confidence and capacity of Mack in the intervening period, this should be another significant step up in quality.

I think it's worth remembering that neither Iceland or the Fairtale/Arthur land were built in a single year.

Iceland is an especially good example because it developed over 4 years. In 2009 the area was really only Blue Fire and the shops opposite. It didn't really become an area until 2010 when the monorail was extended and Whale Adventures, the kids splash area and the Gazprom building were added. I think that's when the path extending the area to Portugal was also added, but I'm not sure (never visited in 2009).
But even then the area where Wodan was built was just an open stretch of grass up to the edge of the park. It wasn't until Wodan opened the area became boxed in like you'd expect of an immersive land.

I wouldn't be surprised if Europa do similar again. Opening with a new ride and just enough themeing to separate the area from Greece and Russia. But potentially a big open hole at the edge of the park for future expansion.
Was there a rumour of the park extending to the other side of the entrance road in the future? If so it'd make a lot of sence to leave a hole in the area for a potential bridge across, as Disneyland in California have just shown intention to do.

They should just move the access road to go round the other side of Rust. Job done.

Greece/Russia is pretty much the only area of that side of the park which is not immediately bounded by that access road - the service area where Traumatica is a located sits between the park and the access road. In order to get a decent sized path there, I assume they would form the entry from near the Flight of Icarus ride. That would probably require the removal of Immer Wieder Sonntags stage, which I think has been rumoured in this thread already as possibly moving across to Rulantica.

That would just leave you with a service road to cross to get you into that reasonably large Traumatica area. Since that road supplies the likes of EP Arena, they could either reroute it reasonably easily or if they wanted to retain it, my suspicion is you’ll see an underpass rather than a bridge - EP just seem to prefer them (eg Colosseo, Iceland entrance, car park entrance etc).

If the Traumatica site is the location for this new area, that definitely does then exhaust the remaining substantial parcels of free land within the access road’s boundary. I guess there will then be some serious thought given to how future expansion might need to open up the park to the other side of the road. If that were to happen (and I think that would be at least a few years away), a bridge/underpass is definitely most practical and economically viable. More interesting is perhaps how any area on the other side of the road is integrated into the rest of the park without it feeling like a bolt-on. Most of the park currently turns its back to that access road, so creating a flow into any new area, rather than just a (Energylandia-esque) long path, will be a challenge.

The border for the park is the access road. They are not allowed to expand over the road.

So more on that theory few posts above that the Apparatus OHM and Transferator OHM trademarks relate to the new ACE Book and that the book is potentially dealing with the backstory of the future new themed area and coasters.

The book cover has been revealed confirming the link to the trademarks - on the left edge there is another depiction of the "apparatus built by Telsa" and it has the OHM symbol on it like the trademarked logos.

So if the trademarks related to the book are future attractions I think it seems fairly certain that Croatia is the next new area and presumably the duelling coasters rumours are accurate with those dual names.
Croatia, an underworld with a monster, old experiments by Nikola Telsa. Shaping up to be an interesting backstory for sure.

Indeed. That said, I believe that Europa-Park will step up to the plate for Mack Rides if nothing else. There will be a downturn in orders over the next few years, so Europa-Park could be a vital client for Waldkirch in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
