They were painted wooden/plasterboard panels of walls. And they were being brought out on the left hand side of the building (as you look at it). I’ve no clue where on the ride they could have come from
I wouldn't be surprised if they're from the Drawing room as the wallpaper was in a really bad shape, so maybe they want to also replace some rotten boards.

But they could also be the panels they used to block the first window you came across in there, as I remember looking behind the curtains, and seeing them boarded up with plasterboards on the lower section of the window.

Another aanswer is that it could be the Drawing rooms Queue, as it was pretty much ruined last season, and that as well is made of the same material. I can see them wanting to replace that and bring back that illusion next season while making it accessible (somehow)

The wood won't be rotten for the most part. The building is dry inside.

The panels could be from absolutely anywhere.

We’re still on about these walls?!

...Anyway, to get this topic back on track...

I have thought about have a separate attraction of some kind. I'm not sure how high the ride building is but if there is space above the ride, might it be an idea if they could build a maze on top? What I mean is I suppose that second level in the entrance hall is nothing but scenery decoration but it did get me thinking having the idea of separated attraction to HH in which is a maze that could be opened for Scarefest and not only would give something different for Scarefest in terms of attractions but maybe even add to the HH lore. Maybe it could be themed that guests are explore the attic of the HH which has even more ghouls living up there and you have to escape...imagine the spider scene on the ride but put up to 11, yeah, nightmare fuel for those scared of spiders. Yeah, always fun to expand on the lore of existing rides at Towers and I have no doubt the upcoming refurb will expand on the HH lore anyway.

The issue is that though they could fit a second floor, It would be a case of that they could just fit one. The ceiling would be visible pretty much anywhere in the ride, and it might also intefere with the methane ventilation, which would pose a safety issue, then there is fire evacuation, etc. etc. It's a nice idea, but it owuld be a lot of work to pull it off safely and feasibly.

True, but I was thinking that if there was a second floor to the HH, it wouldn't be on top of the actual building itself but rather head right towards the monorail shed where there is space that could be built for a maze of some kind that could be themed to an attic and hopefully guests won't tell the difference; worked well with Hex ofc. Not impossible to do but certainly challenging to try and work into the structure without affecting it greatly.

That or you could dig a hole in that area for a 'cut-and-cover' maze that could be themed to the basement of the HH or perhaps what turned into a trip to Hell that lies under the HH (yes, not the first time there is something strange lying underground at Towers!) :p

Hmm...either this is a major revamp to replace the current scenery with updated theming or...a turn to screen based attraction all the way through, hope I'm wrong yet at the back of my mind, there is something about this whole overhaul is saying that this is all too good to be true; so many times this has happened with Merlin.

Either way, it does look to be a pretty big overhaul either way.

Yep. The walls look to be from the Zombie finale as the paint on the planks of wood have the exact colour, that bring a nearly black colour, and it isn't shared anywhere else in the ride apart from that last scene. The other grey painted scenes in the ride are far brighter.

Sorry to jump on the “The host told me this” bandwagon but as I was walking past Duel yesterday, an employee in engineering uniform stood by the backstage gate was getting quizzed by a guest as to why it was closed and his words were, “It’s been repossessed. We’re gutting it, it will be completely different next year”.

And the park didn't even give out an official announcement to Guests of its last operating day. There doing it with nemesis, but not Duel!? WTH?

As @rob666 implied, I think Towers did what they did with Nemesis because it is one of the park’s major rides, and a lot of people will probably care about it closing on 6th November (albeit only temporarily). It might not be the headline attraction anymore, but it is still a very popular ride and definitely one of the park’s major draws.

Duel, on the other hand, played a more peripheral role within the park’s lineup, so I’d wager that far less people cared about it closing outside of enthusiast circles.
