[2024] Geisterschloss: Castello dei Medici

I watched it yesterday evening, a very good video! I didn't realise they'd literally ripped out every set and then replaced some like for like. I thought some had just been refreshed but apparently not!

It is a great video. Yeah I suspect they had no choice but to remove everything in the ride and replace it all, as the main aim of the task was to bring the attraction up to modern safety standards - Something that would be very difficult and time consuming to do with everything in situ, not to mention lots of props and scenery were probably flammable. Plus, the partition walls and the barebones of the attraction being flammable too, of which the scenery would need removing regardless to access.

Very impressive they achieved what they did in the time they did it.

Thought I'd add a short review after my recent visit without describing it too much for those who've not ridden.

I actually love this new iteration of this classic ride, it finally has a cohesive vibe and as a horror/spooky fan - I love the sinister almost esoteric tone to the ride.
One thing I've come to lean is the ride has had improvements/added props since it's opening back last Autumn- so I was lucky enough to experience it in +plused state. Apparently one animatronic (I was particularly impressed with) was so recently added - there are no videos of it yet on youtube!
This is great news - and why Europa is the best place - they keep tweeking, adding and modifying! Some parts do feel like the void of 'something' but guess over time these will be addressed!

The return of a classic effect (the ghosts in the mirrors) is fab, I never saw the original effect as when i first visited in 2016 is was already a projection effect. I agree with other reviews coming out that much of the ride appears 'static' - but its wasn't too distracting, maybe over time they will replace with more movement, but if this is the best they could get to in budget for the time being - its fine! Overall I was left with my imagination being peaked - and for me thats more than I ask!

Ah, the 'Geisterschloss is a Haunted Mansion rip-off' umbrage continues to diminish. I do quite like the changes made here, but I do also love how the ornate theming and marble suddenly cuts back to the dingy station staircase.

Honestly getting rid of the stretching rooms on Geister might be the best think EP has done since Rulantica introduced swim up bars to the resort….
The fact that they sounded like the inside of a JCB factory was reason enough. I was very surprised that visiting this January they hadn't been refurbished as apart of the upgrades but now it makes sense it was phase 2.

Maybe the entrance / exit stairs / shop will be phase 3?

My main gripe with those rooms was that they went for the "vibrating floors = lift" gimmick. Never mind that the original Disney lifts were intentionally smooth so that you didn't know you were in a lift. Point = missed.

In fact, now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever been in a lift where the floor vibrated. I'd be worried if I actually encountered one.

... Anyone wanna tell the Sub Terra guys?

As others have said, I see this as good news! Those "lifts" were pretty awful and stood out even more after the ride's recent refurb.
