And we're also getting a generation where some may not know about the incident, considering it happened 10 years ago. Maybe the person who wrote this is only 18 or 19 so at 8 or 9, may not have been aware of what happened. However, you'd think as part of their induction at Merlin there would be a history of the company and all it's parks, which would include all the good and bad bits!

I wouldn't expect all departments to have it told to them (for example finance probably don't really need it that much) but one of the key departments I would have expected was the PR side, given how often it comes up in articles or discussion (because this seems to be the one incident that the public won't forget about)
 
I'm all for non-cancel culture and "anti-woke" but even I baulk at this! Not just bad taste - just downright awful. Jimmy Carr couldn't have written a more scathing sentence.

It's time companies stopped "blaming the intern" for such faux-pas, and instead admit that these things happen because they employ "slave labour" (sorry internships) to people without the relevant skills- and in doing so put their whole brand at risk. You can't "take it down" once it's out there!!

Good to know you are against being aware of racism and discrimination.

On topic however, You have to wonder if this isn’t a disgruntled ex marketing employee (recently made redundant) who still had the log-in for the account. It wouldn’t be the first time Merlin attractions have forgotten to remove people’s access to their social media accounts…
 
This is comedically terrible. Wether AI or Human, I think some dear context must be taught to them.

Why do they make posts like this anyway? Genuinely, who’s looking at these and thinking… what would they be thinking after seeing this? Does this not get filtered out of everyone’s brain the second it gets processed? The only value they have is when they make a mistake like this. Why. Why the effort anyway?
 
I assume this was meant to be a joke about the fact that Alton Towers is a massive site and people do a lot of walking. Like the old joke that EPCOT stands for Every Person Comes Out Tired. I'm sure we've all told a joke that didn't come out the way we were intending it to. I don't think it was really dark humour about The Smiler accident. They probably just came up with the joke and then grabbed a photo to illustrate it as an afterthought. It's very unfortunate though.
 
I presumed it was because of association of legs turning to jelly in moments of fear.

Any other coaster and it wouldn't have been an issue. But no, they picked the one with the major incident involving loss of limb.

Lack of forethought is common on many business social media pages though.
