Plus, for content creators, there's more money in slagging the park off which is all thanks to the algorithms. So yes, both sides are to blame here with one with misinformation/utter incompetence from the park and other doing it in the pursuit of making a quick buck.

Once again, not everything is black and white but sadly nuance, rational or critical thought are dying traits.

Exactly, good news doesn't make revenue in contrast to negative stuff. Honestly it's kinda hard to find a YouTube vlog on the park that speaks about it in a positive light, only TPWW seem to have some kind of positive thoughts about the place despite their own gripes but even then that's the exception to the rule.

So yes, has the park got problems? Definitely. Are they perhaps majorly overblown as in dirty tracks are considered to be a war crime? Of course. Honestly actually genuine criticism of the park has sadly been lost in the sea of negativity of dare I say grifters.

So yeah, I'm not going to say Thoosies anymore...Theme Park Grifters truly are a thing now.
 
Shaun's the biggest grifter going. Turning up to Towers almost every week and pretending he's excited. It's impossible to be excited that often over 15 years or more when nothing has really changed. I'm sure he's a decent human being and everything, he pays his taxes I'm sure and he wouldn't hurt a fly. But as a vlogger he's totally disingenuous, and he'd sell his soul to get a few more clicks on Youtube. Not just lately either. It's been clear for many years.

I'd argue that Lifthills And Thrills is an even bigger Towers Grifter but that's just me. Suppose he's more honest about but all the same...the anti-Towers/Merlin bandwagon is certainly a booming trade every theme park vlogger or influencer wants a slice off.

The LiftHills guy is a bit of a grifter, some might say, but he actully had the decency to call me out on my mockery of his style of Youtubing etc. I kind of respect that, and we have had discussions about where he's coming from and also where I'm coming from. The likes of Shaun (themeparkworldwide) will not even acknowledge that there is another world out there. The LiftHills guy knows that he can message me whenever he wants and we can have a frank discussion.
 
See, I do find Shawn more balanced than a lot of vloggers. He does criticise Alton, and I think he does sometimes go a bit overboard on the anti-Merlin moaning (although I feel that about a lot of vloggers, and many people on forums as well, to be fair), but also provides praise where it’s due, I feel, and aims to provide a balanced picture. I don’t think he necessarily goes in aiming to be negative.

LHAT seems to do nothing but relentlessly moan about Towers in any video he does about it; I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him be overly positive about the park. He does do some interesting content, but I do sometimes find the non-stop negativity around Alton and Merlin hard to watch.

I’m not advocating sycophancy by any means, and I’m glad people are willing to criticise where it’s due, but I also think constant negativity and moaning do not make for a particularly enjoyable watch or read either. I do feel people, both on forums and on social media, do overegg the decline of Alton Towers and the Merlin parks quite considerably; based on how some people talk, you’d think the parks had devolved into some kind of roadside funfairs.
 
The thing with Shawn (ThemeParkWorldwide) is that he'll pretend to be a decent human being as long as Alton Towers are playing ball with him. As soon as they tell him (on the most random occasion over a 20 year period) that he can't video a lift-hill walk, he'll attempt to destroy them with his social media power. Then there was the time that Towers had a new Fireworks Display and it was in the earlier days of video recording etc. Shawn had uploaded the Friday nights display to Youtube and Towers asked him if he could pull it for the night and then re-upload it the day after, just so that it didn't ruin their visitation for the following nights to a slight extent. This was after a period when management were giving him little interviews etc about randon stuff that would help his channel in the long-run. He'd been working with them being on the VIP tours etc after they gave him a job on the turnstiles. So you'd think he might have some friendships with people or have some kind of normal appreciation for other people.. Do you know what? He said no, just so that he could get a few more of his precious views. I figured him out all those years ago.
 
the thing with TPWW that makes me not want to watch is sometimes how the criticism is framed can feel quite dishonest, not making me trust it for instance a few weeks ago when there were really bad thunderstorms in alton, alton had to close their rides, however it was still bright and not rainy due to the nature of these thunderstorms (they were like a light switch, a perfect day then suddenly heavy, heavy rain)

with their experience, they must know about lightning ranges and the safe area, especially after going to florida, and how sometimes it can be bright but there is a storm cell nearby, criticism to the park can be given, such as too large lightning range, if refunds were given (I am not sure if they were / weren't) etc.

from how it came of too me he basically got annoyed at the park for closing the ride when it is still bright, but he should know better he has literally operated rides, and he could use this as a teaching thing for non themepark people to inform them that rides may close if lightning is too close. but no lets reopen the rides and get struck by lightning :p
 
Regarding LHAT if I remember correctly, the reason why he went on the Towers grifter path was his boasting that his 'sources' saying the inside of the new R-Cade building was going to feature a flat ride and when that didn't happen, he was caught with his pants down and has been out for revenge since then with him slamming Hex being an example.

He has also said that PH is cancelled though if he gets proved wrong again, wonder what his excuse might be.

It is sad we've gotten to a point to a 'race to the bottom' mentality to try and say they had a worse day than the other fellow who had a worse day, it's hard to say who I should root for here. It all reminds me of the Four Yorkshiremen sketch of them boasting how worse it was for them and this is honestly exactly what's happening with these grifters in which when you see it like that then you can't unsee it and it becomes more hilarious rather than shocking/edgy.

This is all the algorithm causing this and the sooner that can sort things out then maybe we can have balanced views being promoted.
