I don’t think it was a Merlin decision otherwise you’d had seen the Thorpe and Chessington counterparts do the same.

I strongly believe it was Bianca’s choice which she later regretted/was told
To stop hence the lack of visibility in 2025.

Does anyone know if the Alton Towers Twitter account is run by AI?

Their DM account says they'll answer within an hour if the rides are still running. So I sent a DM, but got an instant AI response that had nothing to do with my question.

It then asks "was this question useful? Yes/No"

I said "No"

And it then says (again, instantly) "I am sorry I couldn't find a good answer to your question"

Presumably that's it, and no actual person looks at, let alone answers, the question.

It's a really simple question, too.

I think they have an automated chatbot on their messages that aims to answer “frequently asked questions”, if I’m not mistaken.

If I’m remembering rightly, I think you can type “real human” or something to be taken through to a real customer services representative. Don’t quote me on that, though.

That's not AI, in the sense of a modern LLM like Gemini or ChatGPT. It's an old fashioned bot, which is following a logic tree with predetermined outcomes.

Give them a good old fashioned phone call tomorrow. They're actually really helpful over the phone and, shockingly, still humans.

"Talk to agent". I do it quite often, mostly to cancel RAP slots, usually get put through to someone in a few seconds during park hours.

Tried live chat on the website? Though if the first two aren’t giving an answer probably unlikely option 3 will be any different.

Which is odd considering the means putting more overhead in at a time of apparent cost saving

I also heard the head of tech services left recently, so I assume the above roles are just replacing people who have left.
