[2025] Rulantica General Discussion

This may be due to living in Germany for so long but for me the main attraction is the saunas. Without the saunas it's just a quiet zone, but with the right combination of sauna, ice bucket shower, swim-up bar Mai Tai, and Snorri's Saga, it is possible to ascend to a level of pure and total relaxation that for me is virtually impossible to reach under any other circumstances

Another joyous day spent in Rulantica, with Hyggedal, last week. It really is a superb place and I always feel recharged after a day there!

The new pool is beautiful and I prefer it to the older Frigg Tempel.

I cannot wait to see the new restaurant begin to take shape over winter.

I think the best thing about the new pool is that they’ve actually gotten to grips with the correct height for the bar stools in the pool. Those in Frigg Tempel are far too high, whereas the new pool has the stools set a lot lower which means you can relax into the water rather than being lost perched above it. A small detail, but an important one.

I can’t say that I’ve not walked straight into some of said stools though, as they’re pretty well secreted below the water line.

One issue I spotted with the new pool is the step up to the bar, which a lot of people including myself walked into. Where as the old bar doesn’t have this.

I have to say as well when I went the cocktail selection was far more basic than that in the other bars.

They have really ramped up the cocktail prices at Rulantica since opening.

Astoundingly, they are now in many cases dearer than the hotels!

The wine is, however, a bargain by comparison.

We are visiting Rulantica for the first time in May.

I'm sure i saw in a vlog once that there are "cabanas" or the equivalent for hire but i can't see any obvious mention on the website and going through the ticket purchase options nothing was visible. Am i mistaken?

Yikes, quite expensive. We're going for 2 days so if i got it for 1 day then there would be the expectation to have it for both...

Are there generally places to sit? Anywhere somewhat quiet? We're visiting late May so hopefully can be outside if need be.

My autistic son will need somewhere to decompress if we're going to be in there for many hours. Our accommodation is halfway between Rulantica and Europa so wondering if i should change plans to do half day park, chill for a bit back "home" then late afternoon Rulantica for 2 days. I read you can't leave and re-enter Rulantica and being Germany i expect they won't be flexible on that rule.

The private suites are eye-wateringly expensive, but personally I think the sofas are well worth the €50, especially if you think of it in terms of a per person cost split over 2 or 3 people for a whole day. Even if you don't do much sitting it's so useful to have a base to chuck towels, robes etc. I would usually go for a hygge sofa but in May with a child one of the outside ones could be ideal for what you need - maybe a beach egg as they are quite enclosed so would give you a bit of shade for decompressing. I know it says "for 2 people" but I've heard they don't really bat an eyelid if you're a family of 3.

It has been announced Immer Wieder Sonntags the German TV show filmed in the resort is to end after this year. Originally the show venue was in the park before moving to the end of the waterway between Rulantica and Kronasar behind Eatrenalin. Broadcaster SWR has said it is for financial reasons the show will end after 30 years.
Roland Mack has responded that he is disappointed the collaboration will not continue.

To be fair though - the Rulantica venue was meant to be temporary until they used that space for expansion. At least now they can use it without needing to find another replacement venue.

As our trip approaches, i've been keeping an eye on queue times at Europa but i also checked out Rulantica too and noticed they seem rather long for a water park.

We probably won't be able to do many (or even any) of the slides but i noticed even things like Snorri's Saga with an advertised 30 minute queue time!!! Is a lazy river really getting queues that long? Presumably there's no RAP and my son has only experienced water parks previously where everything is generally walk (or swim) on, perhaps a 5 minute or so queue for popular things (eg Center Parcs, Alton Towers and PlopsAqua) rather than a lot of standing around shivering.

Are there lots of things you can still freely access?

Snorri's Saga can get fairly long waits, though at least unlike Svalgur Rytt/Winter Ritt the queue does normally drop off considerably by the end of the day. Note that due to the queue it's generally a one-lap affair at busier times. In terms of things that don't get waits, anything NOT listed on queue-times.com is a safe bet. In particular:

A trio of small slides in SkipStrand (mainly for younger kids but open to all). Will normally have a handful of people waiting for each and due to the size they get through people quickly.
Most of the outdoor slides - Svalgurok has 9 in total of various sizes and only Stormrok ever has more than a couple of people waiting for it. These fully reopen in May but I'm pretty sure they're already open during the warmest part of the day only, as the water temperature is notably lower here than elsewhere
Wildstrom - rapids/slide hybrid with high capacity. It does get a queue it's usually no more than 10 min
Tonnewirvel (Twist 'n' Splash) - almost guaranteed to have no wait and is a lot of fun (and unlike the one at BPB you can go all-out with the water guns guilt free)

Of the other indoor slides, Vikinglop can get queues but due to high capacity it'll usually be one of the first queues to significantly reduce, though you'll probably WANT to wait at least a few minutes to recover from the climb up to it! Dugdrop/Vildfal are too intimidating for many people so often have short waits (currently 1min, apparently) likewise Isbrekker is not the most popular and capacity is relatively good for what it is. Hugin/Munin share a queue so although they do get waits they're generally not too bad, I think the queue times are often overstated for them

I didn't even realise you could check Rulantica queue times remotely!

When are you taking your son to Rulantica? It's Easter Weekend, aside from Ascension Weekend the water park is probably as busy as it gets today. Not sure if they've fully opened all the outdoor attractions yet either?

If you're not going in peak holiday season I wouldn't worry, some of the bigger slides do get queues but I don't think I've ever had to queue very long for things like Snorri Saga.

Exact day tbd but final week of May. Crowd predictions are 40% vs 70% today (on Queue-Times site which scrapes the official app).

The summer months, Halloween and Christmas are much busier according to that!

When we got there early - the main slides/rapids etc didn’t have queues and they built up over the first hour so my advice would be dump your stuff and run (walk) and enjoy the slides first thing! (The Snorri lazy river didn’t have a queue then either). Then when they queues are big, you can enjoy the pools and outside slides etc.
