Would like it to be independently operated againAnd who would buy it? Some big American group? They may know something about theme parks but probably nothing about theme parks in the UK. They'll strip Towers of everything unique about it and it'll just become another copy and paste park in their portfolio no doubt full of IPs.
Just be very careful of what you wish for. Yes Merlin are bad at times, but so are many other theme park operators.
And of course other parks have these sorts of issues - you just aren't as close to them (I don't mean geographically) as Towers to hear about them.
As far as these fountains are concerned - mountain and molehill spring to mind.
Obviously something is wrong with them, and I can guarantee Towers do not want them out of action any longer than we do. They'll be up and running when they're ready. It's really not the end of the world.

I can't see that happening. If Merlin are struggling (and I say if, because we don't know for sure) to run Towers with the financial clout they have, then an independent company would probably struggle too.Would like it to be independently operated again

Alton Towers hasn't been independently operated since the 1980s. It was a bit crap then. Fine, but really a bit crap.Would like it to be independently operated again

Come now...Get Mandy in to sort the place out...she would soon whip the place into shape, sort out the fountains and have the webmasters ice show back in no time.
I second this, I cannot wait to watch;
Webmaster: An Adventure on Hot Ice.
Although, I am sure Fountain Square would be renamed Mandy Square. However, there is no doubt the Fantastic Fountains would be back almost over night.

You could almost certainly kiss goodbye to your big ride investments and B&Ms in that case. The majority of independent parks are small parks with small budgets, for a reason.
Back to Toxicator, it is quite bad they have had to drain the water in peak summer, it is almost as if someone did not realise than un treated standing water, would not turn green in a matter of days. I say almost as if, almost certainly as if, is more likely.

Ah, perhaps it Is down to fix the filtering system, the water was definitely green with algy on sundayAll new water rides in the UK are required by law to have a water filtering system, I'm surprised it doesn't apply to Toxy given the fountains are designed to soak guests and spectators.

Incorrect. It's best practice, but not law.All new water rides in the UK are required by law to have a water filtering system, I'm surprised it doesn't apply to Toxy given the fountains are designed to soak guests and spectators.
Maybe someone is realising why it's best practice...
Merlin don't do fountains or water. Toxicator or Hyperia. Every heard of anyone on Tidal Wave twice?? No, because they've already died of some lurgy. Apparently
But still if you had to start a word with "Toxic" or "Hyper" you mostly end up with some kind of medical condition. Maybe the lawyers had a say in the naming...

@Zeock would do Tidal Wave twice in 5 minutes
To be honest I rarely do Tidal Wave mainly because it doesn't really do much I much prefer water rides like Valhalla or StormForce 10 more going onMerlin don't do fountains or water. I managed to get on Toxicator twice on Friday, 13-06-25, and enjoyed it, especially facing the Galactica side. I thought the front flips were more intense than that side when we did 5 or 6 flips. You cannot beat a good Huss Top Spin as a flat ride, and I want to go back and do a night ride in October. I do hope Alton Towers include more flat rides in the park. X Sector and Dark Forest really could do with some rides to take the pressure off the main coasters in the areas.

The issue with the water jets is that they've over engineered the bugger to sit on top of a major access pathway through the area.
Wouldn't be surprised if, even with the clear signage around the area, there's been complaints about getting wet. They even had to add cover to the queueline after all.

They are refilling the blade side fountains.
We’ve all seen videos of the fountains operating at full power…just curious as to what the temperature actually has to be for the park to initiate another sequence?
We’re in the middle of a proper British heatwave where the media are losing their minds…does the country have to turn to desert before we’re allowed to get wet on Toxicator?

You've forgotten that as soon as it gets hotter than absolute zero, they turn off all water effects to saveWe’ve all seen videos of the fountains operating at full power…just curious as to what the temperature actually has to be for the park to initiate another sequence?
