2025 Trip Plans

Booked Efteling for the summer holidays again. It was so good last time and we have multiple unridden attractions to try. My son has 8 months to grow 3cm for Baron, fingers crossed.

Tempted to give Emerald Park a go, we could do it with a single overnight stay which makes it more viable though the unfavourable Irish weather is a concern.

Hello all - my first post on TS after many years (more than I care to say!) as a lurker keeping in touch with Towers news.

Regrettably I’ve never been able to visit parks regularly enough to join meets, and as such don’t have a group of coaster loving friends, and my wife isn’t a huge fan.

However I’m now at a point where I’ve got the time and just enough spare cash to be going on some of the trips I’ve always wanted to - Europa Park, Phantasialand etc.

So my question is threefold:
-Are there any UK group trips to European parks that anyone knows about?
-Do any of the TS gang regularly head over as a group?
-Do any of you have experience of doing these parks alone, and is it any fun? I’m not averse to this having done at UK parks.

I live in Kent , v close to the channel crossing, so a drive to Germany is not far off the same as driving to Towers!

As a Southener - Thinking of popping along to the TS meet at Thorpe this year where it might be a good chance to say hi to you all :)

Hello @Edjc; welcome back!

There are UK group trips to European parks. One example I can think of is Coaster Breaks, and the ECC also do events, if I’m not mistaken.

I myself have certainly been to parks alone. In fact, I’m going to Blackpool alone in 11 days’ time! I think it can be great fun; you are your own boss, and it can be quite relaxing to go round a park on your own and do just the things you want to do at the pace you want to do them!

Thanks Matt - this is super helpful. Wasn’t aware of Coaster Breaks and is exactly the kind of thing I’m looking for! All booked up for this year but I will keep an eye out…
V grateful for your recommendations.

Fellow solo theme park goer who has done Phantasialand and Europa recently and is due to do Liseberg and PortAventura in the coming months.

Definitely can recommend solo travelling to theme parks and best advise using single rider queues where available.

Being in Kent, I'd be thinking of doing Plopsaland as just an hour away from Calais and has a world class rollercoaster with Ride to Happiness.

I'll echo @Matt N and certainly recommend CoasterBreaks as an option. These are tours with small groups of up to 7 including solo travellers that go around Europe (and are even trailing the US and Japan this year). The only thing I'd mention is that it gets booked up quickly but worth signing up to their mailing list as trips come out about December.

These can help you tick off multiple theme parks at a time which can be about 7/8 parks per tour. The tours around Europe last for about 7-9 days so definitely a fantastic option.

I'm due to head on one of these later on this year. The booking experience is easy and I'd definitely felt at ease with the experience.

Once you've been on one, you would get first dips onto future tours and get the opportunity to go on other trips with the group too.

Other groups with events include:
  • Attraction Source - UK theme parks, mainly Merlin.
  • Your Experience Guide - mainly UK parks with a focus on Pleasure Beach but offer a US group trip
  • RCCGB and ECC - paid membership however offer events across both UK and overseas parks.
  • Off the Tracks are starting to offer events and are doing a Towers event this year.
  • Alton Towers Single Rider Group - a Facebook group that offers regular meets at different UK parks and is a good way of making friends. It is an 18+ group so you won't have kids at any of the meets.
  • TS Meets - This is an option for members of this forum and certainly an option to look at.
All of those coaster groups each offer something different. Some offer paid memberships and others are pay for the event itself.

All of the above!
I can recommend "Scott's lot" at You Experience Guide, very friendly, based around Blackpool Pleasure Beach, but no longer affiliated, so to speak.
Have no fear of ever going solo though, completely normal and expected in the thoosie community.

I've done a few international meets with TST and they're great. Not the most common but can recommend when the chance comes up.
