[2026] Bluey Coaster in CBeebies Land

Horizon could have been the Bluey coaster, the driving school could have had a Bluey makeover. Then there is the opportunity to update gangsta granny, have Bluey episodes in the cinema, turn the old nick building into a softplay.
Bluey-theme Gangsta Granny and a soft play for sure would be great, alongside some kind of Bluey-themed dining hall.

Horizon and GG as two Bluey-themed dark rides seems overkill though. And the increased demand would render Driving School infeasible. I don’t have the exact riders/hour figure, but I’m not sure it’s much above single digits.

There are two sets of buttons - lap bars confirmed at the front, presence/dispatch at the back. It's clearly to force staff to actually do the checks rather than just stay at the back and press dispatch when the button lights up but I don't think it's unreasonable to allow staff the tiniest benefit of the doubt by just having the buttons at the rear of the station and trusting people not to cut corners
Wouldn't the op refuse if the train hasn't been checked? Or do they not trust the op, despite trusting them to have overall control anyway? Also the staff would be at the front considering they're at the front of the train to allow both queues to board and shut the exit gate.
It isn't about not about not trusting the staff, but adding an extra layer of protection

walking down the train give a very good method of double checking nothing is catching the train, etc

requiring 2 buttons allows for less error caused by mistakes or distractions (for instance, if half way through a check a guest tried climbing the air gates) this method of risk control by placing buttons incertain places has been used in industry for decades, and isn't about not trusting the opperators, it is about ensuring nothing gets accidentially skipped

I do wonder if the reason they didn't build this as a standalone land is because of the Cbeebeies agreement. When you think about it how did Merlin get such a hot IP as Bluey, considering that they even beat Disney to it?
The Cbeebies agreement of course, which gives them access to any of their original shows (which I think Bluey counts as because the BBC funded the shows creation). But I bet part of that agreement would have limited them to it being a single ride within the existing Cbeebies land, so as to not dilute the Cbeebies brand.

I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment, and not just because I raised a similar observation months ago. BBC Studios holds global distribution and merchandising rights for the series, having co-commissioned and invested in the series.
I would imagine that Merlin's contract with the BBC allows them first refusal on CBeebies licenced attractions within the UK. It might be that if Merlin do not choose to exercise that right, within a certain window, they lose the exclusivity.

Additionally, Alton Towers may be contractually obliged to only have CBeebies attractions within specified areas / zones, ruling out the option to reuse the 4D cinema, for example.

It does seem odd they haven’t done more to try and sell more merchandise. And am I right in thinking there’s no on ride picture?

Seems a missed opportunity

It looks like the queue for this ride is currently still a whopping 100 minutes, as of this writing, which is longer than the queues for some of the main thrill rides.

Should the ride have been called "Bluey: Here Come the Thoosies" instead ??

Some of the kids may actually be grannies by the time that they get to finally ride it (if they ever do)

Probably youtubers holding up the queue while selfie-ing their grumpy faces.

Rode it today, 20 minute queue.
The queue has a few play area bits with a marked path for parents/carers to wait whilst their small person climbs or plays with a musical floor. There's also a few photos ops with Janet & Rita along the way too.
It's brightly coloured and quite loud and it seems every 10 minutes there's a burst of Bluey Rave (I'm not familiar enough with the TV series to know why) but they get the lines in about grannies not flossing and needing beans for tea.
Ops were pretty poor - sauntering around, no sense of urgency to get the train loaded and out. I'm not expecting them to yell at people, but when guests are all seated and ready to go it's a but infuriating to see staff shambling about like there's all the time in the world.
Having said all that, it's not a bad little coaster. Seats are quite formed with the infamous lump between the legs so some may find it a bit uncomfy but we found it fine.
Not the best thing I've ever ridden, but certainly not the worst.

I find those raised portions of the seats incredibly uncomfortable on Toxicator (specifically, during the sudden spinning motion) as it whacks into my groin - but I'm guessing that this may not be as much of a problem with Bluey, as (A) most of the riders will probably be of a younger age, and (B) the ride probably doesn't jerk as suddenly as Toxicator does (although I haven't been on it myself in order to verify this)

I'm not sure what the point of the raised portion of the seat is (presumably just extra security)

Experienced this with my now 7 year old today. The play areas in the queue line are sheer genius. Whoever decided to play Chattermax frequently though needs a good talking to, turns the queue line into a kids rave every time. It’s a lot quicker than I expected though and imo a good addition.
Oh is it Chattermax? Totally lost on me and the chimp 😂
