2026: General Discussion

4 days into the half term event and it appears Spinball is yet to open.

Is this temperature related or is there something else wrong with it?

Not made it to five degrees so far since opening I don't think.

If i recall i commented how surprised i was that Dragon Fury was operating at 3C over the Christmas opening at Chessington.

Mandril and Fury currently operating at 3C, the plot thickens 👀

It was 6/7C the previous two days so seems unlikely that’s the reason.

Temperature predicted to “soar” to 10C on Friday so that might give us an answer.

There were rumours on the MAP Facebook page that it was brake related issues on Saturday. Watching Coaster Dad's vlog from Sunday showed a car stuck on one of the block brakes (16:01)

Technically the main season hasn't started yet abd they are mostly in maintaince mode

I see where you are going with this but the park is open, the bits that are guest facing should be good unless they have something that suggests otherwise (like the corkscrews have the sign talking about the repaint).

The new park lead (or whatever his title is) apparently had time to hang around the entrance chatting to guests, so he could have grabbed a drill or some glue whilst he was there and popped around the corner and popped the letter back on.

Thats assuming they have the letter, otherwise got to wait for Leek Signs to order/make a new one.

It certainly seems there is a market for Feb half term visits, I was at Legoland yesterday and it was packed. It felt like Summer Holiday volumes with out the heat and that made it a great experience.

I think the problem with Towers is if you open up the thrill rides, you attract a different demographic and probably loose some of the younger families.

I completely agree the event needs to be made bigger, but I am not sure opening up Alton Manor or Sub Terror will help. Not sure that’s what the audience would want. I would have thought if David Williams World (Or its future incarnation) was open and then maybe Hex that would help, but and it’s a big but. The spread-out nature of the resort means you would need something to plug the gap between the current centre of focus, (Mutiny Bay and CBeebies Land) and the half a KM walk from Battle Galleons to David Williams Worls and Hex. Feb half term is so weather dependent as well, whilst cold this week it’s been relatively endurable. If it was frosty or snowy then the attendances would drop right off.

But all the Merlin parks will have to tackle this problem if they wish to come 365.
