[2028] New Rollercoaster (Euro-Mir replacement)

How people rate Voltron and yet hate Mir is beyond me... :rolleyes:

She'll me sorely missed :(. Feel like the (few) members of the Mir fan club need to arrange some sort of proper goodbye, if nothing else but to help us with the grieving process :disrelieved:
 
I've always enjoyed it when I've ridden it. It's intense, especially towards the end, but I've never found the track particularly rough. The worst bit for me is the restraints which are quite easy to bash your knees against.

The queue line is grim though and not up to Europa Park's standards and the indoor bit feels like a 90s Laserquest massive fire hazard.

A family thrill ride is definitely the right way for the park to go after Voltron. An Xtreme spinner would have been silly.

Hopefully it goes more in the Adventure Club kind of direction rather than 'Ed and Edda's Space Race'. They have a blank canvas with a space theme to go crazy if they really want to although I guess the biggest question is how much of a budget they would have for it.
 
I somehow still think doing something similar to YOY with a Dueling Family/Xtreme Spinner could be fantastic for Europa.

Thinking Ride to Happiness dueling with Storm Chaser

One side would be thrilling and comparable to the likes of Voltron whilst the other would cater more for the Family Thrill market and offer something for a wider audience.

I can imagine this being a sleeper hit 🎯
 
I recall them considering an extreme spinner during the early planning phase of Voltron, and ultimately came to the conclusion that the capacity would not be good enough for the park with the space required for the trains. Hence the birth of the Stryker model.

Will be interesting to see what they ultimately plan on doing- whether it is just Mir 2.0 or something different- but either way hope that it's opened complete and not semi finished with missing themeing "to be added later" like Tyrolen and Josefina
 
Euro-Mir is from a bygone era at Europa-Park, when Mack rides weren't really sure what they were doing but had a go anyway.

The ride is one I always make sure to experience - and is one of my earliest memories (with Eurosat) of visiting EP for the first time back in 2004. I recognise it's not to everyone's taste, though, and it's clearly showing its age.

Euro-Mir was always meant to be a family-thrill ride. The intensity seems to me more by accident rather than on purpose.

I look forward to a modern ride but it will be bittersweet.

I have also stickied this thread as I feel it will be one to watch in the coming months and years.
 
I'd rather, if they're going to do it, they demolish the lot. Relocate the training module to one of the Technik Museums, probably Speyer as they have Buran, and start from new. Not entirely sure which period of Russian history they'd use in a replacement if they went in another direction.

Well the fact Voltron is a good coaster and Mir is not would be the primary reason, hope that clears things up 😊

With the exception of its theme music Mir is a truly terrible coaster that I am glad to see the back of. Just hope they somehow preserve our ability to chant inappropriate lyrics whilst queuing for the new coaster.
