There has been alot of talk of Air's carpark on these threads so I'd thought it should have its own!

What do you think will happen to it?

Will AT open an entire new area here in the future?

Will SW8 be placed here?

Will Forbbidden Valley get an expansion?

Discuss away!

I'm all for a bit of humour at the expense of others, but the OP seems relatively new so instead of slating him (albeit in a jokey manner) you could just report [the post/thread] to the mods or comment as appropriate.

However, I won't say they'll do nothing, but what I will say is they're not doing anything.
 
Great replies so far. This actually isn't a bad topic at all, we know for a fact that Towers have considered doing something with this car park so speculating about what they may do seems logical to me.

Entertainments complex is the big thing that's been mentioned, but personally I will be very surprised if at least some of the car park is not used for SW8. I fully expect SW8 to be in FV and make use of the car park.

Most probable- car park.

Might happen- connection from hotel to park (possibly with entertainment complex, as mentioned above).

Hopefully- B&M 4D.

This topic is perfectly suitable considering there have been rumours of a big thrill ride being built where the Air car park is (originally linked to SW7 (presumably postponed till SW8)) and Alton Towers were (still are?) looking at building a second theme park entrance/entertainments complex. So I see no issues with this topic. There's a lot that could happen on the Air car park site.

Exactly! If we look at this:

We can see that Towers have been/are considering a number of things in the car park. It is a possible coaster site as well as a possible entertainment area, and there is the activated link which I imagine involves linking the park and the hotels. Of course none of this may happen, or it could all happen. It's certainly all been under consideration though.

As I said before I do think SW8 will use the car park. It was very strongly rumoured that SW7 would use the car park and I am certain that the original SW7 has been pushed back in a similar fashion to Air being pushed back from 1998 to 2002 due to more time needed to develop technology. So what was SW7 will be SW8 and it will use the car park.

Given the space issues on the park, AT may need to look for somewhere to place a new coaster. this car park is a logical to be talked about.

I believe it will be left as a car park for at least a year.
If they are going to place a coaster there, then access to it will need looking at. May be extending FV around the back of air and air's shop.
 
I often wonder how the Air carpark will be used, actually.

Will the hotels and their potential entertainment expansion mean that most of the carpark space is swallowed up with that, or will the park be expanded to utilise the area with more impact such as installing a huge coaster?

There must be a genuine call for the park to expand that way (its not like they can go anywhere else, what with the locals!), but I imagine any talks are in the very early stages. I'd personally like to see some hotel-linked expansion into perhaps 20% of the area closest to the hotels, and then a huge 40% of the space at the other end thrown onto the park for new attractions.

This time in 20 years eh...

I imagine, like Saz said, in the future it'll half become an expansion of the park, and half become an expansion of the park. One coaster, even a Secret Weapon, doesn't need that much space, especially at Alton Towers.

With their being so much car park space that is barely used at the minute, and with the gap between the hotels and Air being such an obvious place for development, it's quite clear that it won't be a car park in ten years time. :)
