So having just watched the final episode and caught up with the last one (skipped through this last week to see what it looked like), it's interesting how much Shawn explained his reasoning for doing things. Such as the change of the colour for the coat and also how he chose the colour scheme overall, which is something you would know for certain if you watched the whole of each episode. There is definitely method to why he has done things and I also think his dad has probably had some input as well as to what looked good. The purple was a different shade I noticed, but nothing too drastic. Cannot believe they were using rollers though, I was silently shouting NOOOOOOOOoooo at the screen. I find them awful to use, but by the end, I'd never have guessed it wasn't painted with a brush.
I genuinely don't know how anyone could have bettered the glasses and the magnifying glass. The way they cut and shaped the perspex looked incredibly laborious, a professional do doubt would have done it within minutes with the right tools but I don't see how it could have been improved. The bronze paint looked really good as well, as did the lettering on the book.
It was good to see that the eyes still work as well, I figured with Shawn being a hoard--erm, collector of theme park oddities if there was anything that he thought he could save and get it to work, he would do, so it's nice to see that the bookworm can at least have a little bit of movement and he's even going so far as to get the audio playing again.
It's definitely been a labour of Love with a capital "L" and it's true what he said about it being a memory of him and his dad.
Come on Alton Towers, make a special (glass) case for the Bookworm and have it (safely) on display somewhere. Even if just for a few months. And reimburse Shawn for making right one of your wrongs.
(More chance of seeing Boris Johnson zipwire across London.... oh, wait a minute.....)
