Angry at husband for taking soft toy off my 15 year old daughter

Am I overreacting?

He took it off my daughter (has ASD) before she went to bed last night. Husband says she's too old for it and it's "weird" that she still has it in bed. My daughter didn't sleep last night without it. Husband still won't give it back. I'm furious at him. I'm not overreacting am I?
 
Don't see the problem as long as it makes her feel comfortable.

My girlfriend made us spend £12 to rescue Winnie The Pooh from the claw machine at Alton Towers. Next visit we then had to rescue Eeyore too.

He should know how your daughter works. He needs to realise the issue his is causing. Maybe he could stay awake with her tonight.

No way are you overacting. Makes me mad that my 12 year old step daughter gets ridiculed for being more innocent then her age and liking cute things. I think it is far more sad to want it the other way around x

No way would he stay awake with her. He left me dealing with her all night last night.

I'm sorry, that is her choice if she likes cute things.

Will have to speak to my husband later and see if he will let her have it back.

My wife has a whole collection of soft toys. I would never take personal belongings away from any of my children (or wife). I would always respect other people property, interest and what makes them happy. Each to their own and it is not for me, you or your husband to dictate what someone to have or not to. The toy is causing your daughter no harm to anyone.

Sounds like the toy is your daughters comfort blanket, I can't see a problem with it.

Personally I feel that you husband is bang out of order here

I always respect that too.
I can't see a problem with the toy either.

I feel he's out of order but don't know what I can do if he won't give it back to her.

My daughter is the same. She is 21 and still gets ridiculed

I can't advise on how to deal with your husband, is he normally controlling? If yes, there is laws against coercive behaviour. I personally am not qualified to give you advice on this matter, you should seek professional advice or help. The Citizen Advice Bureau should be able to either help you or point you in the right direction.

Does your daughter have a EHCP or Senco at school ?

I know a lass with ADHD who's 19 and has the same problem; she's addicted to plushies, especially Star-Lord ones, and her family keep confiscating them.
 
As it the weekend it may not be too useful due to the weekend.
Support should be available though the school.
