Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 14th & 15th February 2015

It confuses me that you're satisfied that Pleasure Beach haven't installed a custom rollercoaster for 21 years.

As a fan - seeing a new coaster in any park is one of the most exciting things regardless of what they already have!

Imagine if Cedar Point had left it so long - it's just so exciting!

Pleasure Beach would get such kudos if they built something new. It would certainly inspire discussion here!

Of course I wouldn't mind seeing a new coaster but I much prefer the ones already there to most modern coasters so personally I'd rather they kept the current ones, also there isn't any urgent need for them to install another one as they already have the most in the UK - it's not as if they are in demand for new coasters!

Also, they are building something new, Sky Force is opening in a few months, it might not be a coaster but it's still a new ride for thrillseekers. Add to that W&G and Nickelodeon Land, they have been installing new rides, just possibly not what everyone would prefer.

You state that you already prefer what they already have to most modern coasters - which is fine. That is what draws you to the park and is presumably why you prefer it to all (assumption) other parks in Europe?

On that basis, I can totally see why you'd rate Pepsi Max Big One highly; as it is quite old fashioned - the trains, the profiling etc. It is violent in a couple of places - again - this is a hallmark of several coasters in the park.

I just always feel like (as someone into mainly newer coasters but some old ones too) Pleasure Beach fans find it so shocking that many don't rate Pepsi Max as much as I find it weird you do like it.

Also - you guys never seem to celebrate the likes of Wild Mouse much... for me it beats the PMBO to smithereens and spits it out for dinner. Airtime? It's certainly in evidence on the WM!

Don't get me started on Red Arrows... I couldn't be less interested - there's one at Nigloland and we had an official meet there last April... people said it was pretty rubbish unless you had some inspired ability and wanted to rotate solidly for 2 minutes doing little else.

It's not a case of that, as I fully accept other people's opinions on coasters, not everyone likes the same thing, however it's attitudes like "it's a poor coaster, no-one should like it" or "it's got zero airtime" that I disagree with.

Don't celebrate Wild Mouse?! It's my second favourite coaster after PMBO (third favourite overall ride), and yes it has amazing airtime, as does the Grand National (which happens to be my third favourite overall coaster!) I do rate airtime highly but that doesn't mean that my favourite coaster has to be an airtime machine.

Whether or not you are interested is not really what I'm getting at, the point is that it's a new investment for the park for thrillseekers.

Ultimately, if you are an enthusiast and post on forums - you are going to have to accept that people will post their views and things will divide opinion. Like my view on the Red Arrows ride. Yes it would, the point was said in reply to the fact that you think they need to install something new, to show that they are. Therefore whether you are looking forward to it or not isn't relevant to the point which was that they need to build something new.

As for PMBO, the comments were things like "its jarring" and "not enjoyable", fair enough if that's what you think but it was put across as if it was a fact.

Obviously people (me included) would want to see a new coaster at the park, what I mean is it isn't in dire need of a new coaster as they aren't short of them.
I don't remember people being psyched up for a Mack, people want to see one at the park but that's as far as it goes.

By and large, I tend to go on the presumption that any posts that express a view on a particular ride, are opinion rather than fact.

"Pepsi Max Big One has little to no airtime" is my own personal view.

Scientifically, the ride has a negative G force of 0.5G (airtime).

Quite possibly because the very talented @BigAl thoroughly designed a realistic and superb looking coaster for the park which we'd all be delighted to see. Coincidentally, it was a Mack.

I find it irritating surrounding the misconstructed opinions of the general population on this site that we only appreciate Macks. Yes, Mack build some good quality rides (one of their latest claims the crown for my favourite ride on the planet), but we're all more than happy to scoff at their Splash Battle models and various other feeble attempts. You could have any manufacturer and any model go into Pleasure Beach, as long as it looks spectacular on paper and is actually delivered in the final product then we'll be fine and give it rave reviews.

It's no secret that Pleasure Beach do have some rides that should be and are celebrated, but nothing would please me more than seeing something mind blowing that takes us all by surprise, and would encourage people to flock from all over the country up to Blackpool to try it out. Let's face it, Sky Force isn't going to going to have that much of a draw.

The problem is because fans of Tussauds/Merlin parks in the UK have been treated in the past 15-20 years with major improvements to Thorpe, Towers and Chessington, they expect parks like BPB to be spending money in a similar fashion but not only is that impossible for BPB with their debts, they don't have the space. The thing is while those parks now lead the way, for a lot of those years they've been playing catch up because BPB had more to offer (and still does as far as coasters go) and has been an established park for a lot of years, BPB has proven every summer for a lot of years that they can pull people in without major investment, the bigger problem is seeing the park busy year round so it starts making the money it should be making because having a busy summer and every Saturday being busy ish in September is not enough.

I want to see them build a new coaster, but I am glad of the investments made in recent years, they've done a great job of whittling down the debt that was leading the park to closure (and still could, god forbid), the family side of things has really been improved with Nickelodeon Land and W&G, now they are focusing on thrill and will hopefully get a new coaster that we all crave.

I have to say though, looking at most of the investments made at the Merlin parks in the past twenty years, there's very few of them rides I'd like to see replace BPB's coasters, although any offers on removing Infusion are welcomed!

Towers and Thorpe wouldn't survive if they went more than a few years without adding anything new, if you know your history, you'll know BPB have gone through a lot of periods like in the past 20 years where investment is slow and they concentrate on securing the park's future as well as cleaning the place up.

I still think you've missed my point about Rita on the previous page, I think the fact TTF have arranged an ERT on it and have got well over 30 people booked onto it already suggests there's people that actually quite like it. I don't really care for it, it's just an example I used which wasn't taken the right way sadly.

TT simply tend to vary the rides they run ERT on so their events don't repeat. They have also got Smiler...

I wouldn't say it means everyone who's going bums Rita but Smiler ERT will attract people.

The idea of 30 minutes in Dump Forest doesn't appeal to me in the slightest.

I like the Big One.

I don't rate it very highly, but I still enjoy riding it.

(I would certainly rather ride PMBO than the Smiler)
