Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

Although we moan about BPB, I’d say that they’re the best park in the UK for being able to operate (most of) their rides in poor weather conditions.

In recent years Merlin have reduced the minimum operating wind speeds on loads of their rides, even lower than manufacturers recommendations. I dare say at Thorpe and Alton tomorrow, virtually everything outdoors will be closed all day.

BPB is your best bet of having a good time at a UK park in a storm.
 
Indeed, more roof than most parks, and plenty of bars spread out for the non riders.
Damn shame about the Space Invader though, nothing like a coaster with a roof in the storms.
 
River Caves has had a bit more of the Journey to Hell treatment. Unfortunately the section on the right of this image was trying to fall over in the high winds, given a lack of support behind it. The area that would normally house the turnstile has a black sheet draped in front. Assuming they are intending to use the trough for JTH, they perhaps ought to consider what will happen when it rains, given a few inches of standing water filled it in today's weather.



Elsewhere on the park, not much opened given the weather; Avalanche, Streak and Grand National were the only coasters for most of the day, eventually joined by Rev (I understand the concern with Rev was the stairs/station rather than the ride itself, and even when it did open, it was incredibly difficult to stand upright).

Quality day. Got sent round again on Avalanche and on Krusty Krabb.

No queues . And did some rides I wouldn't normally do like splash bash, rug rats and krusty krabb.

Fantastic company as always and even valhalla had the fire working (most of it).

A dozen rides with virtually no queues, and apart from a real squall on the seafront early on, we got away with the weather.
One thing with the Beach, every visit is different.

Pleasure. Beach is definitely great on rainy days still stand Legoland has more to do than Pleasure when weather is poor.

Curious to see what's been going on in River Caves and whether the Journey to Hell portion is using the entire ride area
 
This may mean nothing, but at the moment there is no mention of the Hot Ice Show 2026 on the pleasure beach website, no option to buy a 2026 Hot Ice season pass and as far as I know there has been no announcement about the show for next year.

Could Hot Ice be cancelled in 2026 ?

It could just be a late announcement but it is unusual.
 
I think it would be wise to at least give Hot Ice a break. If they can do one year without it and see how it affects the business’s overall performance, this will allow them to decide if it’s worth keeping long term.

This is something that has never been tried and tested, Hot Ice has been there for as long as I can remember.

Pretty sure when I brought my Platinum Pass for 2026 (mostly for access to European parks), there was the option to purchase a Hot Ice Season Pass too. Although, that could mean they’ve just left the sign-up page as the same as last year.

Never got experience Hot Ice myself as parties that I visited Pleasure Beach with weren’t interested, even if it was just for free first half. However, if at least some the budget that went into Hot Ice goes back into investment for Pleasure Beach, then I think it might be a worthwhile trade off…
