Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

Ive never understood why locals should get a discount. They are already saving money by not having to travel. If anything they should give discounts to people that live 100 miles away !
Local discounts are often used to buy goodwill and make up for any issues/congestion caused by the park, from what I ascertain.

For instance, I know that Orlando locals have discounts to the Florida parks, and I seem to remember hearing that people in Alton village received discounted Alton Towers tickets and passes due to the congestion the park causes in the village in the peak months.

Not sure how many residents of Alton would be bothered about a discounted theme park pass. Guessing most would prefer Alton Towers to just be gardens.

You were likely right about 20 years ago. Now, probably not so much.

Alton Towers has been established as a theme park for 45 years, it's a large local employer, many local businesses thrive off of the passing trade of the theme park.

The majority of the people living in the village of Alton now have probably not known anything else, or it's been so long it doesn't really matter anymore.

Folks within 3km of Towers get 20 free tickets per household.

This is primarily as a sweetener due to the impact the parks operations have on day to day life for those nearby.

I would suspect for Blackpool the motivation of local tickets would be different - primarily you would want the locals to help fill up the park during off peak times when holiday makers aren’t around.

Well, word about Grand National "potential" removal has been confirmed by a very good source over in America (another forum member knows who I'm talking about but don't want to put his name in open forum for obvious reasons.
Apparently they want to put in "new stuff".
So I'd say definitely no smoke without fire.
Also we need to remember that when the rumours were going round about ice blast removal we had that timeless X post from Amanda about how PlayStation wasn't going anywhere. But this rumour elicits silence.

Whatever works they were doing to it don’t seem to have made much progress recently. Most of the tools and equipment spread around the station don’t seem to have moved much in the past few weeks.

Maybe there will be smoke… and fire…

It’s still very much standing at the moment (I can see it from where I’m currently sat), so I wouldn’t worry just yet!

Launch Pad was also audibly testing earlier; I could hear those compressed air cannons running quite loudly as I was walking outside the park!

I could also hear some sort of alarm noise that I thought was coming from in the park at one point, but I wasn’t sure if it was from in the park or elsewhere on Blackpool promenade. This was at maybe just gone 5pm?

I could also see the maintenance crew focusing on getting launch pad open, as there will be a bit of hand over and paper work required.

It would be awfully convenient if her troublesome wooden coaster caught fire, and burned to the ground.
fires, on the grand national wouldn't be the first time.
would that even work though, I am not too knowledgeable on BPB incidents but I am aware there have been a few fires on Nash, big dipper and they have been able to repair them would national England just turn around and say fix it, it is very spread out (I can't imagine it burning too much of the structure before the fire brigade is able to put it out).

If it burnt down then yeah highly likely given inlets listed status they'd be forced to receive build it to its original specs.
I'm pretty sure if they do remove it they'd be going the legit route to doing it.

Yeah, see this, essentially the same thing historically listed building but they wanted to tear it down supposedly to turn it into the adjasent land fill, and it has been ordered to be re-build:

It’s a great day at Pleasure Beach already today; I’m only 45 minutes into the day, and I’ve already done 5 rides and am queueing for my 6th!

Icon, Big One, Revolution and Avalanche were all practically walk on, and indeed, I had first ride of the day and an entirely solo ride on both Revolution and Avalanche! I can’t really complain about 2 laps on Icon and 1 on the other three already being under the belt!

Big Dipper is unfortunately on only one train, so its queue is a bit slower, but given it’s my 6th ride and the park’s been open for less than an hour, I can’t really complain!

If those guys that chopped down the Sycamore Gap tree (allegedly!) get off, maybe Mandy will employ them to do the Nash.

I'm guessing the arsonists that did the Fun House (allegedly) have all retired after the Hatton Garden job (allegedly) so she'll need a new crew. Maybe during maintenance they've left a big vat of oil or grease lying around, and treating all the wood with illegal chinese flammable wood preserver (allegedly).

Simply adding the word “allegedly” to an otherwise defamatory statement provides no protection. The fact that the allegations have also been previously published is no defence in itself.

Just something to keep in mind.

I think nowadays our habe to say allegedly, in my own personal opinion not based on fact and I'm only really saying this for comedic effect only.
Would have to be accompanied with a statement like that.
As gas already been pointed out with a real case. Any destruction of a listed structure results in you having to rebuild like for like. If "as in the case of the crooked house" it is the result of foul play. You WILL be prosecuted.
There is no way on this planet they would even contemplate doing anything without proper legal authorisation

Thanks. But no defamatory statements from me. Someone chopped down the tree - I didn't say who. And there's no proof that there were arsonists. Defamation only comes about when you identify individuals or companies (directly or indirectly). Don't believe all the hype that everything is a (hate) crime and free speech is dead. Defamation - legally - require the statement to be presented as fact.

As for the Sycamore Gap duo, I'm only repeating what the media have reported - they were there, they filmed it, they bragged about it later. But if they do get off, Mandy might need to buy them a new chainsaw - if she employed them to cut down the Nash! (Allegedly)
