Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

They’ve got competition directly across the road.

For pre-planned, longer trip visits, they’ll be competing with Towers primarily. A lot of the resort’s draw is from north west towns, for whom the distance is comparable. That’s not true of Scotland of course, but then there’s never been much competition in that respect. Even Southport and Morecambe were PB-owned. If you’re taking that trip back in time, then the only other real additional competition would be the Granada parks.

It’s certainly true to say that the town overall doesn’t get the visitation patterns it used to. There’s not a great deal PB can do about that on its own.
I mean South Pier though small competition is still not really big enough to pose a threat I am talking of Camelot mostly was around back in the day nearby

It could be though,
If a lot of visitors do walk in from the street then what is more appealing for a family whose kids want to go on a ride, the what £40-£50 bpb or South pier.

I think some of the hates comes from how poorly managed some parts were, for instance icon, expensive, very little marketing, and not much impact, if that money was used on multiple rides or more in marketing it could have been more of a success and we wouldn't be talking about the park as negetivly today

Mingo got mentioned much more in its early days, but lets face it, Lancastrians try to avoid going o'er t'Pennines unless really needed.

...On reflection, after two recent visits with good mates...

After fifty years of independent visiting the park as a full on happy clapping freak and geek, the place is looking derelict, with half the rides and sides closed, right from the sbno Ark at the entrance.
Closed rides, empty spaces, cracking concrete and peeling paint.
Admittedly, the concrete, patchwork, tarmac floor is free of litter, and the service in Crevettes is excellent, but that is it.
I have never seen a grottier hole, and I love pink concrete that smells of wee, I have always loved Blackpool.
The park is dragging along on its bottom, and it needs new owners, or a manager who can actually manage without owner intervention.

Still not decided on a season pass next year...I have as much fun outside the gates.

Quick side question: can I buy 2 Speedy Passes and alternate between 3 people/e-tickets. Haven't been to BPB for around 5 years, and have limited time next week to visit (half-term) so need to walk the queue bypass of shame 😏 Not sure how the e-ticketing works - last time we had a Speedypass gadget.

Being a softy southerner most of my UK park visits are to TP/AT, so will be interesting to see how my visit aligns with the views above!

I may be wrong but I think the speedypass will be linked to your eticket so will have your photo on it.

I think you can, but the main passholder has to go on each ride, or turn up at the turnstile to check the others in.
Think that was last year, and I did not indulge, that was four with three passes, and me at the bar.
And going back to the fun we had over the last two visits...no queues made all the difference!
Next week will be rather different.

I have attended Journey to Hell this evening. Growing up, I was taught if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. With that in mind, I've decided I can't review the event.

Twisted Tunnels and The Abyss are two separate tickets, but you can't do one without the other. The Abyss does involve walking through a section of River Caves as widely predicted. You can't see particularly much of the ride (predominantly because it's dark, rather than anything covering it), but it doesn't look like much reimagination has taken place at all. In fact, I'd be inclined to suggest nothing has changed. The maze takes you roughly from the Magnolia Cafe section backwards to the ride's station, then out via the staircase I posted a few weeks back. From what I could see a lot of the first couple of scenes has been removed.

For the price (I paid £29), it's an absolute ripoff

The Beach ripping people off for halloween?

Not surprising.

The River Caves showing no signs of repair or renovation?

Equally amazing.

Double Boo.

That is twenty nine pounds please.

The reimagining continues...

Just because that section hasn't received.any updates doesn't mean the rest of the ride is like that Rivwr Caves is huge. Was a bit curious if the Abyss would include going round the final section of the ride before the lift

Even as someone who personally hates scare season, I’ll admit I’m surprised that Blackpool doesn’t make more out of Halloween.

Did they not see the recent Independent article revealing that Fright Nights is Thorpe Park’s most profitable time of year, making nearly half of their overall profits? And that Alton Towers also makes huge profits during Scarefest?

When it can make so much money during what is otherwise quite a cold and unpopular time of year, doing a Halloween event seems like a business no-brainer, so I’m surprised that Blackpool doesn’t put more into scare season and do a full-fledged event during the park day.

There is still "stuff" during the day...the werewolf on stilts was out on his mobility scooter earlier in the week...and a couple of dancers briefly on the car crash(both meanings) fy4 set...when there were more staff than punters!
The Passage del Terror at the entrance has extra staging and crowd pullers as well.
Thorpe has a large local catchment on weeknights, Blackpool has more of a lights focus.

I'm sure the place will be busy next week regardless, my Ghost Train ride was ert on Monday.

Sounds like most previous years then.

I’m assuming that also means there’s a gaggle of vloggers spouting about how great it is.

Unfortunately mate, it is very obvious that they do get a top notch show on the "vloggers" nights.
Then they chop the staff.

Had some great nights on the Beach when Halloween was on the weekend over the years, back when they didn't charge extra, hours were long, and once, just once, we were in t shirts and shorts, all day and night, deciding climate change was real.

About fifteen years ago, our very first speedypass!

Meant to add, if anyone actually wants to do it, you can 'upgrade' a normal eticket via the app to include JTH - £15 currently.

There were indeed a collection of camera folk. A group were brought straight to the front of the Twisted queue, much to the dismay of everyone else.

Whilst collecting my tickets, Amanda arrived, and lingered around the entrance/shop. No speeches or anything, in fact, didn't see her speak to any guests.

I saw an theme park influencer describe the event as “unique” which is usually code for “rubbish” but they can’t call it rubbish because they’ve been let them in for free and don’t want to lose their perks.
