Chessington World of Adventures Resort

There is huge amount of potential with the dark ride/coaster when you factor the environments Minecraft has. It obviously lends itself to being mine cart themed (which would be easy to do with the multi-dimension car/train), but then whether it's based in an actual dungeon or ventures between the caves, the Nether and the End using portals before using the outdoor section as the overworld is a different question.

You'll get the film's cast from Wish and like it.

Does that mean we can get rid of Rattlesnake?

I've just read up on some of the documents and it seems very interesting. These are some of the key points.

It is aiming for a 2027 opening.

It seems to be a Intamin Multi Dimension Coaster similar to Uncharted.

The new flat ride is being described as an "Indoor Immersive Experience"

Monkey Swinger, Tuk Tuk Turmoil and Jungle Bus are going into storage until the park decides what to do with them/where to move them. It is probable that all three could be relocated somewhere either at Chessington or at another Merlin park.

The Trail of the Kings and Tiger Rock were considered as alternative sites but were dismissed.
A few other interesting tidbits from the Design & Access statement...
  • Specifically states Jungle Bus will be reused in the Mexicana redevelopment
  • The area has been designed with 'future expansion into the Land of the Tiger' in mind
  • The indoor flat was originally envisioned as a 'digital maze' but this was changed to a covered flat ride - thank God we've avoided Black Mirror 2.0
  • The zoo area (Trail of the Kings, sealions etc) and the Land of the Tiger were two alternative considered sites for the proposal
  • Chessington is experiencing a period of record attendance according to the graph below (the red 22 is World of Jumanji, surpassing peak visitor levels in the 90s) bandicam 2024-11-21 17-20-44-562.jpg

That's really good points - that seems to confirm the plans for Jungle Bus which was what everyone predicted.

Glad that there wasn't plans for a Black Mirror style maze/walkthrough, we already have similar with Room on the Broom/Hocus Pocus Hall (that might've changed but I haven't ever been on RotB but did HPH).

I think having a walkthrough would be a nice additional bonus considering how strong the theming potential is. The Nintendo ones are incredible.

I would have much preferred this development to go to AT dungeons/david walliams area and finally sort out such a dire missed match area with no life or footfall, I don’t know why I but I have a feeling this intimin and plans was originally for AT? I do remember John Warley saying in the interview new exciting ride technology (when was new at the time) is coming to AT and the theme was rather wacky? This was few years back all before the budget cuts and universal plans.

Wild Asia actually is a really nice and unique themed area. Towers needed this investment much more and I now see this the start of AT not being Merlin prize asset, as they will start to concentrate more on the southern areas to compete with universal. I do worry about AT future and what it means to Merlin. It used to be the park that got all the big investments and focus now it’s clear since Hyperia and Jumanji it’s bottom of the pile, which is a shame because it could be world class as it’s so unique and different from any other theme park.
