Chessington World of Adventures Resort

it’s a short coaster in terms of track length
I suppose an indoor coaster like this, with a park as restricted on space and what they can build as Chessington meant it was always going to be somewhat short in terms of track length. Although with the other elements it could well mean the experience isn't ridiculously short, but I suppose we will have to wait and see in that regard.
Then again Merlin have a recent habit of building half coasters.....

My understanding was there would be "show scenes" where the car stops moving, so the length of the track doesn't necessarily determine the length of the ride. Also i recall there was a switch or backwards section so it will be traversing the same piece of track per cycle.

I'm imagining something in the realm of The Mummy at Universal, albeit probably not that good.... though the budget is there so perhaps reason to be optimistic!

The layout on the plans showed it travels round a few show scenes before doing the backwards spike following the spike it rolls into the motion table/turntable, before exiting this section with a launch to the outdoor turn around section before entering the building with possibly an airtime hill before a near 360 degree large left turn before a right turn into the breaks.

The expected show scenes at the start and the motion turntable should extend the length of the ride,

I think this Minecraft investment is going to be a much bigger deal than people are expecting.

Just one metric but the Chessington instagram typically gets a few hundred likes per post, maybe 4 figures for something big.

The Minecraft collab post is at almost 200,000 after 2 days.

I fully expect whatever comes after it to be an expansion, presumably replacing Tiger Rock.

Be it luck or shrewd business, they've arguably got their hands on the biggest IP outside of Disney and Universal.

Combine the Minecraft Players and general theme park goers thats a lot of people already on side.

I hope Tiger Rock is to be rethemed back to Dragon River with all that beautiful Rockwork brought back.

I do also Chessington sort out their capacity issues for this new land due to large influx of guests. Refurbish Vampire to run 3 trains, Dragon's Fury to have an offload platform and Tomb Blaster to have a faster load.

Wouldn't be shocked if Vampire gets the 'Nemmy treatment' soon to be honest. It's an iconic ride for the park and still immensely popular. Maybe it doesn't need the extensive rebuild that Nemmy got but it definitely needs more than a spruce up.

Not sure the park could cope with Vampire down all season though so it would have to be a predominantly winter project with maybe a delayed opening the following year to allow all the work to get done. Modernising it and allowing it to run more trains is definitely required and as others above have suggested, Mincecraft could bring in a lot more new guests to the park so having Vampire on two or sometimes just the one train isn't going to be a good look at all.

Merlin obviously have a lot of faith in Chessington, and a lot more than i thought they had 5 years ago.

Vampire has been SBNO before back in the early 2000's

Vampire can't run three trains realistically without a big change to the return with maybe an offload platform but it would stack up a lot. Two trains with good ops arguably better

In 2027 they'll have 4 new attractions in Paw Patrol and 3 in Minecraft so would be in a much better position to cope with its absence.

They managed without it this past Halloween season despite far lower capacity than they will have in the future.

Just need to be sensible with the overall park capacity if Minecraft dramatically increases attendance. I wonder if we could even see the first Merlin timed entry area for a period!

Get some staff in who know what they're doing and they can run 3 trains like they used to.

Though if money were no object I'd get Vekoma in again to upgrade it to a SFC rather than have the swinging aspect. They are limited with what they can do there due to the closeness to Monkey Puzzle.
