Chessington World of Adventures Resort

Yes it was very intense...

Such a shame how it just fannies about these days.

There was a Huss Breakdance called Rodeo which was also pretty full on. Better than the one Towers anyway.

Samurai in its current form at Thorpe is not as powerful as a fairground one or the Beast but it really is not as bad as everyone makes out. Just go and watch other videos from other parks that have them and you'll suddenly say that Samurai runs well in comparison.

Example here with a slow main arm and half the ride cycle time....

The thing Samurai hasn't got that The Beast had was manual ops the Beast always teased you it was going to stop anf then would get going again

That thing was terrifying! Once and never again! :tearsofjoy:
It was a right of passage! You passed! But seriously that was one of the most intense flat rides in the UK in my book. I have a feeling it was higher than samurai at its tallest. Definitely made quantum at tp look like a kiddies ride.

Had a brilliant first trip of the season to Chessington despite the near collapse of the RAP system, which i'll discuss in the appropriate thread.

Vampire opened late but we lucked out and ended up on the first train of the day! As we entered via RAP we were the only people in the station for a few minutes which was an odd experience. Ops on it were excellent, all day the train was going up the lift before the other train was in the station, which to me demonstrated that 3 trains could still be run... it's just the RAP queue not being on the air gate side that prevents it.

Gruffalo was in very good condition too and looked like lots had been painted. Not all the effects were working but more than typically.

Mandrill ops were odd, they were sending multiple batches into the airgates simultaneously so the station was very busy. Not sure why but never saw the queue go over 25 minutes so perhaps it was working.

Croc Drop was spinning! Give it 2 weeks of course but nice to see.

Paw Patrol area looks really good in real life, even my wife commented and she's not usually one to take much notice of theming. It so obviously looks like what it is supposed to be, a bit like Peppa Pig World. Big, simple, bright and colourful. Looks finished too but nothing was testing that we saw.

I'm not sure what is going on with the car parks.... we always go in the hotel car park for disabled access but now there's a sign saying you can use this car park for £12 without either disability requirements or a hotel reservation. They seem to have painted the spaces again and possibly increased the size (by means of reducing the staff car park)

For three train running I believe they would need to dispatch before the previous train has reached the top of the second lift hill, not before it has hit the final brakes.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that the lifts DID run slower on 3 trains, though I can't remember where I heard that. Former park staff may be able to confirm.

One thing I do know for sure is that the brake run can only take 1 train, so when it ran three the 3rd train couldn't leave lift 2 until the second train re-entered the station. This meant that trains always had to be in motion and you'd see 2 trains passing overhead when queuing
